Made lomo saltado. Far be it from me to tell the Peruvian people their dish sounds kinda stupid, but mixing french fries in sounds stupid, so I put potato wedges on the side.

edit: also if you happen to have a wok and a super hot burner, you might try doing this. It was invented by Chinese immigrants in Peru and would really lend itself well to a good wok stir-fry

Thanks for the heads up. It was a good size on my phone and computer screen, weird.

We made trout fillets for the first time tonight. (These were raw rainbow trout fillets, not the smoked ones.) This is probably the single best ratio of mindlessly easy to prepare to amazing result of anything I have ever made.

Pardon the mildly unphotogenic lemon wheel. We had zested a few lemons for the lemon cupcakes last weekend, and we saved them since it was just the zest missing. I used half of one of the lemons for the juice, and the other half went to the garnish.

EDIT: Never done this before since I have barely cooked any fish ever, but thanks to the GWS hivemind for the all-important "Don't gently caress with it" advice. Skin came out crispy and delicious.

There's a similar Japanese dish like pajeon right? God a recipe for yours, as well as whatever sauce you might dip with it?

Yeah, okonomiyaki is kinda similar.

I dont really use a recipe anymore, just dump stuff together until the consistency is correct. It's probably pretty close to Maangchi's recipe though. http://www.maangchi.com/recipe/pajeon

No pictures but to combat this ridiculous cold I made some white bean soup with turkey sausages, roasted butternut squash, and had a nice piece of pretzel bread with it. Not only did it look completely unappetizing, but I ate too much of it before I even thought of snapping a photo, because it was loving delicious.

Yeah I usually wing things too, but I've never actually had any these types of pancakes so I wanted a decent baseline, thanks. I'm pretty sure I've got a similar recipe from Cooking with Dog booked somewhere too. Any other sauce recommendations besides the hot sauce in there?

A standard soy ginger garlic sesame would be pretty good.

Or maybe nuoc nam. Fish sauce garlic sugar lime.

I especially love the fact that you have described your pizza as a parallelogram.

I've only recently gotten over my red velvet obsession (The cupcakes that a couple of you posted looked awesome! In regards to the duck egg thing, it doesn't so much affect the flavor, as much as the texture and mouthfeel---at least in my opinion).
So yes, I made these red velvet things:

red velvet donuts (baked...which is far inferior to a fried donut, but oh well)

red velvet molten cakes

some guac

mushroom risotto with porcini powder and creamed leeks

roasted pork banh mi with pickled carrot and daikon, quick-pickled cucumber, pork pate, roasted pork, kewpie, sriracha, cilantro, and jalapeņo

It's been cold as poo poo, it snowed all night, rained all day. Threw some veggies, chicken, beans, sausage, and broth, in the crockpot, shoveled snow for 2 hours, then waited (3 more agonizing hours) and ended up with this.

Sides of the crockpot don't look so pretty, certainly not as good as what you're all putting out, but gently caress it, I got soup so what do I care?

We started with artichoke (not pictured) and a dipping sauce (with mayo, capers, lemon juice, honey, salt, peper, wine),
and as a main we had lemon sole (with the leftover dipping sauce), pumpkin puree, asparagus, samphire and potato wedges.

The shredded and fried cabbage, tossed with brown sugar and salt, worked very nicely. The normal cabbage wasn't especially prominent except as tendrils wrapping around stuff. Which is good, if you're into that.

Homemade mushroom and sauerkraut perogies and braised red cabbage with apple, bacon and balsamic vinegar.
I'd made the perogies before (they are awesome, though a fair amount of work) but it was the first time for the cabbage. It was also pretty tasty although surprisingly sweet just from the apples and vinegar.
