quote:Replacing the coin toss at the beginning of each game was an event in which one player from each team fought to recover a football 20 yards away in order to determine possession. Both players lined up side-by-side on one of the 30-yard lines, with the ball being placed at the 50-yard line. At the whistle, the two players would run toward the ball and attempt to gain possession; whichever player gained possession first was allowed to choose possession (as if he had won a coin toss in other leagues). The XFL's first injury infamously resulted from the opening scramble; Orlando free safety Hassan Shamsid-Deen suffered a separated shoulder prior to the Rage's 33–29 season-opening win over the Chicago Enforcers at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium on February 3. He ended up missing the remainder of the campaign. lol vince rules

if the nfl was allowed to be more violent maybe the players wouldn't take it out on their wives, girlfriends, children, and pets the xfl was a failed attempt to put an end to domestic violence

Rod "He Hate Me" Smart went on to play for the Carolina Panthers for three years, and even played in Super Bowl XXXVIII! His big moment was returning a kick for no yards with seconds left in the game! Also, imagine playing in a nationally broadcast league game -a game known to produce serious and severe injuries- with no term contracts and no healthcare. XFL started in February right after the Super Bowl, should have waited till spring like the USFL. Also, they marketed teams as huge rivals when they only had met up at the 4 week training camp in Orlando. Jesse Ventura worked as a commentator while still actively working as Governor of Minnesota which was pretty funny.

I remember two things about the xfl, the players were undertrained/undertalented causing a majority of plays to start with a false start/offsides flag. No one bothered to tell the refs it was "less rules football" so you typically had 5 flags thrown for every 2 plays slowing things down and making it less fun to watch than NFL.

Is really similar looking to CFL crossed with Arena football. Half safer, half not. Also there is a shitload of bad football that isn't the NFL or college out there, my brother played in some random rear end leagues in the US for a bit, as he wasn't good enough to even be a hitting bag in the NFL, but was addicted to the sport. Tons of fights, bad games, and god knows what else. The ultimate goal is to basically get the poo poo beat out of you in the NFL for a couple years at league minimum. Also the cheating. And yes, in both definitions.

People act like the XFL was super terrible quality with high school kids and that's not really true. It was better than NCAA football. Many of the players were NFL level guys that may have lost a step and got cut. They still wanted to play ball so they suited up for the XFL. The XFL didn't fail for lack of talent, it failed because of marketing.
