Texas is Florida but without as many nice beaches.

That picture of Dallas could be any non-ghetto part of Tampa. It's just all urban sprawl and crappy strip malls and cheap subdivisions.

I live in Florida and I have no idea what people do here for work other than take care of old people and tourists. My job is actually in Houston, and I commute/telecommute.

Global warming is barely a big deal at all compared to the trajectory we used to be on. We'll have to do a lot of environmental engineering projects along certain shorelines and it will be a little warmer and wetter in some places, big fucking deal.

man, not even a starbucks in sight..

Wow, why would I want a short commute to work and to be in walking distance of everything else when I could instead have giant lovely trucks and an entire barren field and dirt road to myself?

There are tons of old people in Texas, and the rednecks are probably worse.

I work in specialized manufacturing and have never had a problem finding a good paying job. I don't know what it's like for people without skills that are in high demand though, it probably sucks for them anywhere.

It's not only that they're scared of walking too. Anything not within ~100 yards isn't considered "Within reasonable walking distance" for them,

I suspect these two are related; There's no car in the world that would fit their grotesque rolls of fat and their rascal runs out of juice after anything more than a couple blocks..

Simple really. Cars are kind of a proxy for adulthood. You have to be a certain age to have one, you have to have an income to procure one, which in turn requires lots of other adult behaviors like showering regularly, not being a complete sociopath, understanding human emotions, and the like. That's not even to address things like the spatial awareness and being able to operate in 3 dimensions, and maybe even figure out simple mechanical things. These are all anathema to citigoons. They really just need their lives made as simple as possible, with as many choices as possible already made for them, and limited chance to ever encounter something that would require deviation from the explicit instructions they've had pinned to their sweater since leaving the group home.

The suburbs are great if you're an enormous twat. Nice job ruining the environment, wrecking state and local budgets, suckling on the federal government's teat, being generally excessive, and producing absolutely nothing of value.

The food sucks, the culture sucks, getting around sucks, living there sucks. This is the suburbs:
