today i bought a car. i agreed to buy it over the phone yesterday, but today i actually signed everything and paid up and drove it away. lowest i got a dealership to was 680 below msrp. i ended up using a credit union's car buying program and they got it to 780 below. tiny difference but they also took care of the loan at 1.49% and delivered the car to a local branch and basically everything was super-pleasant. i also learned that bank tellers get skittish when you request a 5-figure cashier's check to be made payable to a rival credit union.
