There's a Ctrl-Alt-Delete kickstarter that's making more money than the goal for this already. I know people aren't impressed with how Hero-U has been handled but that still makes me very, very sad.
The saddest thing is this here is a kickstarter for a hardcover box set for the first ten years of Ctrl+Alt+Del with the animated series thrown in, and yet it is still a more legitimate kickstarter than either of the Penny Arcade ones.

The fact that the single player isn't the main focus from the get-go tells me that it won't be very good if they do make that goal. And indie mp games have a very short lifespan.

Hey, Wildfire raised enough for it's first stretch goal, which is ...
loving escort missions. Well, it's rescuing your allies, but then you have to escort them instead of them doing the standard thing and disappearing. At least Ground Zeroes had them stay still so they didn't get themselves into trouble but even that was annoying to do more than once. Thanks for killing my interest in your game guys, save me some money.

I never thought about it like that, but you're right; CAD is less illegitimate than penny-arcade, wow

By that measure, so was Dresden Codak.

TBF, tho, Penny Arcade never needed a kickstarter to barf their books onto every pulp pusher in the land.

They did however need a dedicated biz guy/babysitter to ensure they didn't accidentally give away their entire IP in the process. Again.

I wish someone would make a space sim that's less about realistic controls, giant procedurally generated galaxies, multiplayer with real consequences etc and just make "Freelancer/Escape Velocity but in 2015".

I'd like to see more Privateer like games where it isn't total sandbox but has at least some plot and especially a lot more personality. Just the station/planet graphics and music helped to make it feel like you were visiting new places instead of screwing around in total random chaos.

Yes, but no realistic controls, no multiplayer and the developers' favorite game is Freelancer.

It.really is odd how unsuccessful the industry has been at recapturing the magic of Privateer.
