Funny and great video of a grown man kicking and beating a three-year-old boy in glorious CHINAR https://www.miaopai.com/show/12XyFAREd73GZb6Qlrz10Q__.htm How many people gonna 看热闹 ? Seriously don't watch the video if it might bother you, it's a grown man seriously attacking a small child like not slapping but trying to kill him. I think if that group hadn't run out of the shop and stopped him he would have killed the kid with that metal dustpan. Arglebargle III fucked around with this message at 14:07 on May 7, 2015 |

Arglebargle III posted:Funny and great video of a grown man kicking and beating a three-year-old boy in glorious CHINAR https://www.miaopai.com/show/12XyFAREd73GZb6Qlrz10Q__.htm holy poo poo... like three people walk past, look at the kid getting beat, and keep walking finally someone comes out, instant crowd there to kan re nao, no one helps the kid. so busy doing kan re nao that the beater almost just walks away, finally they decide to chase him. Every guy starts stomping on the beater, kid lies there hurt, no one comes to his aid because they are all too busy watching the guy get stomped on. Like... a full minute later someone finally thinks to help the kid...

Yeah j/k that video is awful and I think the guy who immediately jumps the beater and then later prevents him from leaving is the only one who behaves sensibly.

Grand Fromage posted:My favorite friend story is one I have who speaks Korean pretty well. He was at a casino in the Philippines at a table with Koreans, who were all telling each other what cards they had in Korean for cheating purposes. He played innocent American and after winning a thousand dollars off them he stood up, thanked them profusely in Korean, then left in a shower of cursing and screaming. This guy is my new hero! My old hero (did something similar) was a coworker of mine from England had been teaching in Korea for two years prior to us teaching at the same school. He knew a bit of Korean, and could get by if the other person talked slowly. At this high school we shared an office with 4 other Korean teachers and they would be talking non-stop in Korean. On the last week of the school year there was a special assembly on the Monday where all of the teachers would get up and give a speech to the entire student body, staff, and parents who showed up. I went up, said how amazing it was to teach there, how I made so many new friends, fell in love with Korea. . . blah blah (what one would expect a foreign teacher to say). My coworker had been practicing for a few weeks and went up, said pretty much everything I did, but in perfectly fluent Korean. At no point during the year had he let on that he knew Korean (beyond a few key phrases) and by the end of the speech (5 minutes of fluent Korean with no English uttered) the majority of the Korean staff were speechless, mouth agape, and some of them visibly sweating. For the remaining 4 days the staff were grilling myself, my coworker, and even asking students where he was teaching next (they knew it was a University in the southern half of the country). We assumed they were trying to sabotage his job before he started due to the stuff he heard that he shouldn't have. (mostly horribly racist poo poo about the Chinese and Japanese foreign teachers, taking bribes from parents, banging student's moms, talking about which female staff members they would nail, and talking about the principal and his personal assistant's "lunch meetings"). Another theory was that they were going to warn the University that they were getting a foreigner that could speak Korean, so they would have to be careful around him. While in China I had similar issues with my Chinese co-teachers, as I could understand a little of what they were saying, while I was in the room. Most of it was, "I wonder if this guy is rich, should we invite him to lunch?".

What I can't understand is that you're seeing a toddler doing something incredibly cute ("haha it's cleaning a street, how precious") and that immediately throws you into a murderous rage.

My Korean actually is terrible so they didn't have much to worry about, but I did catch some fun stuff now and then. My students never caught on despite literal years of me punishing them for things they were saying in Korean, but never connecting the dots

A shocking number of people in Asia consider themselves to be literally a different, superior species to other races Like I wasn't allowed to donate blood in Korea because foreign blood is different and if you injected it into a Korean the Korean would die All this poo poo is less common among younger people who have actually traveled abroad and are aware of the world more.

Whenever I have Korean exchange student who tries to slip in Korean swears (that he has already told his classmates, and they all think it is an inside joke) I'll wait until he says it, his classmates laugh, and then I'll look straight at him and say, "죽을래?" (want to die?). This usually results in a "deer in headlights" look followed by the Korean student shooting his cohorts a "poo poo, we've been made" look. If they try and apologize later I'll just follow up with something like, "다시는 절대" (never again) and they will from then on be under the impression that I am 100% fluent.
