Fojar38 posted:Teleporters are the most important buildings, followed by dispensers, followed by sentries. I'd say it depends on the map really, cause on say Doublecross for example, Teleporters aren't all that important due to the map's layout unless you can sneak an exit into the other team's base somewhere(and that's usually pretty hard to pull off well), while sticking a Dispenser near your front exit or somewhere on the bridge can really help your team make a push, or at least hold their ground

Teleporters are most important on offense, while dispensers are most important on defense. Except on bad maps with messed up spawns that are too close/far from the points.

Sentries are also actually pretty helpful for holding ground on offense if your team keeps getting pushed back, but if that happens you're most likely hosed anyway.

Most payload and A/D maps are designed to be all but impossible to hold the forward points without a teleporter. It's not exactly messed up in those instances. EDIT: As far as teleporter vs. dispenser, your teammates will protect your dispenser better but it's also a lot more exposed to enemies if it's close enough to be useful to teammates.

Like a vampire, nothing sucks the fun out of a game of tf2 like a gaggle of valve server engies. Enjoy your 30 minute "battle" over one control point while the sane people quit the server constantly.

Yeah those are the good maps, but they are by no means the majority. Basically spawns should be set so that offense is far enough back that it needs to set up a forward base to move forward, while the defense should also have some distance to travel but not so much that they can't run to their point and defend it. If either are too close, then teleporters and roamers lose their value; if either are too far away, then it becomes very difficult to change momentum play (and encourages the defense to simply defend at last). Preferably there should be enough room in the backfield of both offense and defense to allow for Scouts and Spies to roam around. This sort of thing also applies to control point maps, specifically in how the spawns move as points are exchanged. Kaal fucked around with this message at 20:59 on May 29, 2015 |

The first point on Upwards or Badlands is going to go really fast if the red team has to walk (they're generally not going to hold regardless unless the teams are pretty stacked, but having a teleporter up and running can eat up several minutes of the clock before blue breaks through--usually because someone found and destroyed the teleporter.)

I'm assuming you don't mean Engineers relaxing next to their sentry with a fully functional nest, because it's hilarious to get kills like that. One of my favourite things to do on payload maps is to let the cart push me along while I hold a high five taunt. Are you suggesting that's a bad thing?

Just died in one hit to a non-crit LnL, as Medic, at full health. Not long after that, I killed another Medic with like 3 needles from the Overdose, said he was at full health too (he'd just used up a stock Uber). Something screwy is going on here.

Is there a way to make it more obvious when I take damage? Lately it seems like I can't tell at all and end up dying before I realize somebody had been pelting me for a few seconds.

Whenever I install a new online game, the first thing I do is turn the game volume down to somewhere between 0 and 1% because that is the only range of game volumes that aren't deafeningly loud. Then immediately after that I disable voice chat.

If I can magically coordinate with pubbies, that's great, but if not I'm going to just keep beating oblivious snipers with fish so whatever.

Why not even 50%? They wonder why people use ad blockers.

One of the best features to come with Windows 7 (Or maybe it came with Vista? I avoided Vista) is the ability to control sound volume on a per-application basis.

Do you guys have youra turned all the way up or something? with my current headphones I normally have it at 18% by default(especially for gaming purposes), and normally only ever turn it up louder if I'm watching a video or listening to music that needs it(for example almost every video on Team Four Star's website I need to turn it up to 24% at minimum, sometimes as high as 40%), of course if I wasn't using headphones than I would probably have the volume somewhere between 60% and 100% cause my laptop's speakers are kinda crappy

It's pretty funny how clueless the general playerbase is about hacking. Random guy joins server, immediately gets 15 kills in two minutes as sniper with nothing but headshots and literally zero misses and is staring at a wall 99% of the time: "Whatever man he's just good quit bitching it's called gamesense" You get two crit rockets in a row: "Ugh loving hacker votekick plz"
