The Maestro fakes being Odin out in the middle of the desert by turning back into Banner and wearing an eyepatch until some resistance people pick him up because they buy his story. The reader gets suckered in too because "Odin" talks about how he was the king of the gods and Thor was his son and when questioned he says that there weren't always multiple Thors and that his power was stolen. It all sounds like a pretty plausible thing like "So this is what happened to the actual gods in Battleworld" and you start to buy it, then a rebel spy reads his mind and goes "HE'S GOING TO KILL US ALL" and "Odin" smiles and goes "Yeah I'm actually Bruce Banner", then hulks out and starts wrecking the place.

At the end, this happens

You'll hit your head and say: 'Boy, how stupid could I have been. A moron could've figured this out. I must be a real dimwit. A pathetic nimnal. A wretched idiotic excuse for a human being for not having figured these simple puzzles out in the first place...As usual, you've been a real pantload!
The rebel that finds him is Ruby Summers so it looks like David is incorporating his different future arcs into this story.

Well at least he didn't get a lot of cleavage...as that would lead to disturbing questions of sourcing no one would want answered.

Greg Land would be great in a space book full of non humanoid aliens with no human females. Like a Silver Surfer or Galactus book.

Like that Grim is pretty good (ignoring the floating) and so's that old Hulk.

I think Gillen tried to make that happen in his Iron Man run, but Land's aliens all turned out to be purple porn actresses with a fin or two.

Is Spider Verse any good? It's the only one I'm not getting (atm)? I glanced at the first issue in the comic store, but was a bit nonplussed by it. For what it's worth I didn't like Spider Gwen (never read the event and only read an issue or so) and really never read Spiderman. I did like Renew your vows a lot, but that's a different author.

Pretty awesome, go get it. Basically spider sense is telling spider-people who they truly were but they can't make sense of it and are trying to figure out what's going on while Osborn, Mayor of NYC, is doing some shady stuff.

I liked Spider-Verse. It seems that Mayor Norman Osbourne is trying to put together a Sinister Six of sorts and the Spider-Men are Spider-Gwen, Indian Spider-Man, UK Spider-Man, Spider-Girl, Spider-Ham, and Noir Spider-Man. That's a good set-up for me.

Too bad RTS games aren't much of a thing anymore, I would love to have one based off of Battleworld. Being able to pick a unit based on Doom's Thor team or the Wasteland Ultrons/Zombies and then trying to conquer the map would be really fun.

I wasn't going to pick up Spiderverse, but hearing that Osborn is the mayor has me interested.

All I've had time to read so far today is Mighty Avengers, Mrs. Deadpool, and Weirdworld. All three were fantastic. Another good day for tie-ins so far just with those. Still have to get to Ultimate End, Secret Wars 2099, Secret Wars Journal, Spider-Verse, Attilan Rising, Angela, and Ghost Racers. And since Spurrier is writing Marvel Zombies and it focuses on Elsa Bloodstone I'll probably end up grabbing it too. The only thing today I'm passing on is Captain Marvel, Inferno, and X-Men '92 it seems.

Angela was pretty eh I think. There's a fine line between writing Shakespearean English in a realistic way and a parody way and Marguerite Bennett falls on the wrong side of that.

I really liked Marvel Zombies as I'm a huge fan of Spurrier's writing. Kev Walker's art was good too, much better than his work in Hickman's Avengers run.

Al Ewing is a really good and currently underrated writer, I think.

I got the hardback of the Spiderverse event for a stupidly low price and didn't really enjoy it at all, but I'm still enjoying the miniseries quite a bit. The characters are all much better when being written by someone who can actually do dialogue.

Seeing Anthony Stark of the Gearsphere Starks made me wonder: Have we seen any characters interact with their counterparts from other realms yet? (Ultimate End/Planet Hulk ones are still interacting with in-realm counterparts) How does that fit into their worldviews?

It's decent, slightly better than her usual fare. The art (especially the colouring) is really good. I'm not seeing what's particularly awesome about it, though. Carol has a corps, they go on missions, they start questioning the authority, that's basically it, there are no surprises or anything that stands out in the writing.

It's the debut issue of the series, but actually starts questioning the cosmology of Battleworld instead of doing a bunch of tease-y worldbuilding that leaves you going "eh I *guess* I'll buy the second issue" which is a breath of fresh air in this wallet-sapping mega-event.
