The alarm company calls dispatch and says the "armed robbery" alarm went off. This happens all the time. It's 99.9999999% bullshit because someone accidentally hits the button.

following protocol our dispatch calls Mickey D's but instead of asking what's going on she says "is the man with the gun still there?" Employee doesn't correct her, she just says "he went to his car but he's trying to get back into the store, we locked him out"

Nothing official, just the old town high streets before London grew in to one giant disgusting cancer. Places like Shoreditch, Islington, Soho etc. Croydon is probably the worst where every other building on a street is a pub, club or winebar where you can just as easily finger some single mother as you can fight her chav brother pissing his welfare up the wall. It's an unusual night when running battles don't happen at least once.

I would say "loving college students ruin everything," but Austin has been full of students forever, so I put down its wide appeal to poor taste

One of the clerks motions us over and points out a lady in a wheelchair that was having trouble getting into an elevator, and asks us to give her a hand getting on. The clerk pushed the silent alarm button because her manager told her "just push that button if you ever need help" :psyduck:

Have any of y'all gotten to kick someone in the nub?

http://ktla.com/2015/06/11/video-of-santa-ana-police-pot-shop-raid-shows-officers-eating-edibles-attorney-says/

quote:

During a police raid on an unpermitted pot shop in Santa Ana late last month, hidden cameras caught officers eating marijuana-laced “edibles,” playing darts and displaying other questionable behavior, according to an attorney who plans to sue the city in connection with the raid.

The incident occurred at Sky High Holistic, a medical marijuana dispensary operating without a business permit, officials with the Santa Ana Police Department confirmed. The raid, at 419 W. 17th St., was one of several such recent operations, police said.

Video of the raid was taken by the regular surveillance cameras the shop had in place, as well as a hidden one set up in anticipation of a police visit.

The footage shows at least eight officers busting into the dispensary, guns drawn, shouting “everybody on the ground” to customers and workers.

“I was about to kick her in her f—ing nub,” a female officer later says of a customer with an amputated leg in a wheelchair.

The officers proceed to remove surveillance cameras mounted on the ceiling, the video shows.

Then, they appear to be smelling the merchandise and discussing the flavor of the edibles, to laughter. Multiple officers appear to break off pieces of the food and consume them. Several other officers play darts.

The video was edited and released to news media by Long Beach-based attorney Matthew Pappas. He plans to file a lawsuit on behalf of Marla James, the patient with the amputated leg, alleging gross mistreatment by officers during the raid.

“I’d like to see the police officers disciplined for the behavior that goes on here. I’d like to see the city stop engaging in illegal conduct,” Pappas said.

The Police Department is conducting an internal investigation in response to the video, according to police Cmdr. Chris Revere.

“We’re obviously concerned about the conduct that we saw in the edited video,” Revere said. “We’re also concerned that the video was heavily edited. We’d like to see the original video in its unedited version.”

Revere said he “couldn’t say for certain” the officers were consuming pot edibles in the video.

Pappas and James, want to see reform — and a more fair system for allowing pot shops in Santa Ana. A judge recently issued a temporary restraining order preventing the city from implementing a voter-approved lottery system designed to distribute 20 permits for cannabis collectives, according to the OC Weekly.

Sky High was not one of the 20 dispensaries that were granted permits to operate in February. The shop operated nonetheless, and its owners expected it to be raided.

Revere said no dispensaries in the city are currently operating “legitimately.”

“If the temporary restraining order is lifted, the city can then begin issuing permits for legal dispensaries to operate,” the police commander said in an email.

James said dispensaries have no choice but to operate illegally, without a functioning permit system. She said she was the “patient manager” in the day that the raid occurred.

She criticized officers for how she was treated.

“They intimidated me. They threatened me, and then they let us go,” James, 54, said. “What they did, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.”

Pappas ran unsuccessfully for Long Beach city attorney last year. He regularly represents medical marijuana patients, according to the 2013 profile in the Orange County Register.

Actual question, albeit a probably dumb one:

The window motor on my door broke, driver door. I am going to get it fixed, but on the offchance I get pulled over in the meantime, how do I comply with the officer (since I can't roll down that window) and not get shot?

Edit: There are never illegal substances in my car. There are occasionally guns, but it's almost always an O/U in the trunk for clays, and there has never been a loaded pistol.

Just wait until the officer gets to your window and then point at your door and tell him it's broken. Then you can open up.

Cop walks up, will likely ask you to roll down your window. Tell him the window is broken and ask if it's ok to open the door to speak with them instead. They will either say to open the door or depending on the situation just speak with you from the passenger side. The cop also might ask you to step out of the vehicle, so just hop out and speak with them and carry on.

Get your window fixed as in many states that's an equipment violation.

I was actually in the exact opposite situation a while back, my window broke while I had it rolled down and I could not get that damned thing back up again. You mentioned that it's an equipment violation, I've since gotten it fixed, but if it happens again would a cop be able to ping me for that? Like, can he tell me to roll my window up, and write me a ticket if I can't?

Serious answer:

There are legit socialists and commies, but like in most professions in the US, they don't come out much. They're just not one or two, I can name offhand from my friend circle already ten within same department.

However based on the experiences of my family members and relatives and friend circles, there's way more democrat cops.
Now, not like "I'd vote Sanders but he won't win so Clinton"-democrats.
But like "I am like a republican minus the overt racism and aversion to taxes". In other words, McAuliffe-democrats. New Jersey democrat. Dock worker democrats. Maybe even blue dog democrat. Those there are pleeeeeenty. They're not really progressives, they just vote democrat. Make sense?

Is this the same thing as a "yellow-dog democrat" in the south? Somebody who voted democrat before the nixon years, when it was the conservative party, and just kept voting democrat and remaining oblivious to the changing political landscape?

(No joke, I didn't think they existed anymore in the wild, but the last town I lived/worked in, there was an honest-to-god yellow-dog democrat as county judge. He'd always run unopposed, so nobody ever voted him out. In the election they held while I was there, somebody who hated his guts ran against him for the republican nomination, causing him to switch parties and compete in the primary. Her campaign slogan was, "I'm xxxxx, and I've always been a Republican." He lost.)
