Your space suit will have a limited capacity to store waste (though it may be upgradeable on higher end suits) such single seat fighters without an interior beyond the cockpit are typically very short range though, and bound to a carrier or station. Well, here's the thing. It's not about that.

I know that some of you, even grown men with pubic hair growing in the places you didn't think hair could grow, tend to have way too much fun here. I have been around since SA was a "thing", and the good thing is that, even with all the goon poo poo that goes on, there is some level of restraint. Very, very rarely, do things around here devolve to 4Chan, 8Chan or similar places. That's the only reason why, from time to time, I post here. I have never - ever - posted in those other places. I don't post because I want to be a part of the poo poo posting forum denizens. I post for the sheer fun of it, and once in a while there's actually something worth posting about.

So, even though the 5 page Facebook post didn't have anything in there that wasn't going to be made public in tomorrow's article anyway, my feeling is that, you guys really shouldn't encourage that here. Those doing it, will think it's OK, because they don't know any better. And they will do it elsewhere, since they don't know any better. That's why doxing is not something to engage in either, even for shits 'n giggles.

So that's why I left because I don't want to be a part of that. Now that I have been assured they would be removed, here I am again. :)

As I mentioned in my Gaming Urban Legend blog which I wrote (for the benefit of the new gen who don't know who I am or where my rep comes from) last week, I have always been a gamer. A human one, no less. So, unlike those "other" guys who wouldn't dare come to places like this, let alone sink to the level of interacting with gamers who are *not* their fans, I engage everybody.

The SA denizens have made fun of me for years, but as I grew older (though I don't think the average SA denizen ever grows up), I learned to take in stride; especially if nobody crosses the line. Abuse, harassment, threats, SWATting, doxing, etc are never OK. In any form.

I see myself as that neighborhood kid in a small town, who left for the big city, got famous, but still comes to the neighborhood once in a while. A place where everyone is equal, and credentials, fame etc, are all patently meaningless cuz nobody gives a poo poo.

Greetings Derek Smart,

Fellow internet celeb here, you may know me for my youtube channel, (found here: wwwyoutube.com/channel/UCDoLsvucJySN66VcpUjluAg) Or from my active twitter presence (@camanator2000, of course). I have: over the course of a decade and one half, meticulously created and cultivated a unique internet brand for myself. All of this I am sure you are aware, of. But I felt it important to demonstrate my credentials, especially for any "new comers" to this website. So in conclusion, I say all of that (see above) to say this: All that to say this:

Will your eventual victory over SC (Star Citizen) give us any ammunition in our fight against "Doobie's Dogs"? I am sure you have followed the Doobie Saga up until this point, but in case you have not, here is a link to the wiki: http://doobies-doghouse.wikia.com/wiki/Doobie%27s_DogHouse_Wikia Please answer as quick as you can, either here, or on twitter. Based on your background and expertise and taking into account the outsider perspective, what do you think where the technical challenges reside that CIG might encounter and has to overcome?

Also, lacking the experience in Programming myself to have an educated opinion - but I am also wondering how their current progress on expanding/implementing additional capability into the CryEngine (such as 64bit precision) compares, are people with the relevant background actually impressed about the progress or are there unexplainable delays?

I actually don't think their biggest challenge will ever be a technical one; it has always been the massive amount of art assets they've dug themselves into a hole over; and I don't mean ships. They've promised over a hundred systems, with potentially multiple landing sites per system. Thus far, they have almost finished the necessary work for one of them, and made decent progress on a couple more. It's not a great showing so far. As for the biggest technical challenge: it's going to be the actual client-server game play communication part of the netcode once multicrew is introduced. Twitch multiplayer gameplay relies heavily on prediction; with a single player's inputs, there's a limited amount that can change in any one time, and so you only have to be so right with your predictions. When you start trying to do accurate prediction for multiple player's worth of inputs, good luck. This will be the real reason a lot of multicrew stuff gets minigame'd; when you have a limited amount of outcomes that are pre-determined, it's a lot easier to deal with.

For the large world stuff: I'd say they're about right on track. Something like what they're doing is the programming equivalent of ditch digging. They've got to slog through the entire source, make the necessary changes (which aren't that hard), and then meticulously test everything bit by bit. Rendering engines tend to be extremely optimized, which means some of the code likely has very careful assumptions backing it, when you change something like the float precision it's expecting, you've got to go through and find everything that broke, figure out how the optimization worked in the first place, and then recreate it for the new assumptions. Otherwise things won't necessarily crash and break, but you'll likely end up with strange behaviors that can't be explained, like objects rendering when they shouldn't be visible and the like. It's more tedious than hard.

Indeed. But as I said above; I left for a specific reason.

Mr. Smart: The FTC is fairly transparent in that it intervenes when there is compelling evidence that actual violations of law are at stake. With that in mind, what aspects of CIG's crowdfunding campaign or behavior do you believe have actually caused concern that an actual law is being broken, and what law is that? With specifics, please. CIG is not, legally, a public company and crowdfunding backers are not public investors in that company, under the definition of the law. Because of that, CIG does not have a legal duty to act in the best interests of crowdfunding backers, so complaints such as frivolous spending of the money on private jets and the like aren't actually criminally valid so long as CIG can show progress continues to be made towards delivering the promised product (which they have a solid history of doing, legally).

Despite your claims on twitter and here earlier, CIG and Chris Roberts don't have any disclosure requirements to backers; the law is very clear on what constitutes a public company, and the requirements thereof, and crowdfunding is not sufficient to meet those requirements. With that in mind, do you really believe that you, or any other backer, are entitled to see privileged internal company information, such as financial records? If I were to pre-order Derek Smart's Battlecruiser 5000AD, should I be privvy to your financial information? Why or why not?
