It can be a bad game and still the best MMO. The bar's not set very high.

FFXIV was enjoyable enough but it didn't really have a viable battlegrounds equivalent as of the last time I played it so it ultimately fails as a good MMO.

The main protagonist. While originally he wanted a peaceful life as a driver, he ended as the leader of the Fourth Guard Squad. He is a big train fan and he's very knowledgeable about all types and models. When he was young, he nearly fainted after he had gastritis after he took a picture of a passing train.

It is later revealed that she has hidden feelings for Naoto, but refuses to show it

She has had a crush on Naoto since the time he saved her when she got lost in the railroad museum during their childhood

She develops a crush on Naoto after he saves her from a crazed man during a concert

You should expand your knowledge of it first because One Piece owns.

Well, that's a bit of a lie. I've read One Piece up to the end of Marineford. Is that enough context for Baron Omatsuri?

Isnt Baron Omatsuri that movie where they totally flip the style of the show in every way possible? If you are looking for a good One Piece movie it would be Dead End Adventure. In fact I used that Dead End movie as a intro to One Piece for some people. Most of the movies for One Piece are really wierd with where they place and what the tone is because they are mostly not written by Oda and get totally hosed up with how adventure is written.

One Piece: The Movie - Big loving Meh.
Clockwork Island Adventure - Supreme Garbage.
Chopper's Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals - Chopper Mascot Sellout.
Dead End Adventure - The Good Movie.
The Cursed Holy Sword - Completely disregards Zoro's character and backstory.
Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island - loving Wierd. Like they wanted Luffy to be in Akira. Everything is 180.
The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle - Only purpose was to forshadow Gear Second. Would have been a lot better if Franky was in it.
Episode of Alabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates - Alabasta Arc fast and dirty. Characters and massive events totally removed from story.
Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura - Drum Kingdom fast and dirty. Characters and massive events totally removed from story. Everything that was good about the orignal arc was changed or removed.
One Piece Film: Strong World - This one was ok. Would have been better if they didn't do the whole Nami is a helpless princess bit.
One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase - Didn't even bother with this one.
One Piece Film: Z - I honestly don't know what the gently caress was going on.

One Piece has always looked really dumb to me. If it was short I'd probably still check it out, but it's got like 1000 episodes or something so no thanks.

I still enjoy the whole story part of one piece, but yeah, the redisigns are mostly poo poo and pacing went to hell and is going worse. Do not watch IMO, there'll be an abridged version available sooner or later, that'll be better. There was a site where some fans cut up the show to throw out all the "5 minute flashback from last episode" and "guys look angrily at each other for 5 min" and they released ~1 episode per month, but their site seems down now :(

Also, the only new design that came out ahead in the timeskip is Franky IMO. The rest are either meh or downright bad.

e: vvv: Oh yeah, almost forgot about Brook. He's OK too.

They do a costume change every arc. Also the boobs just came out of nowhere. It just crept up on everyone until finally they reached insanity and everyone called Oda out on it.

Doesn't matter though because brook will always be the best dressed. :yohoho:

is reading one-piece a cool idea or naw?

also kingdom hearts is fun because of its story, not in spite of, poo poo is hella entertaining packin' in the most friendship speeches per minute of any anime

but mostly it stands up as a pretty great action rpg series with tons of flash and dialing poo poo up to 11. you get a transformation that lets you fly while wielding three swords at once.

also yoko shimomura composed most? if not all of the music and she's fantastic

The whole era of RPGs during Playstation and Playstation 2 was great. Now any kind of decient RPG release is super rare. The reason for this I blame on the quality of graphics that the newer consoles demand from their playerbase. Remake any of the JRPGs now and it's budget would go though the roof. Most of those games had 80+ hours of playtime in them alone with constant scenery changes and dialogue/action cutscenes. Now even with a giant company backing a game you can only expect at 10-30 hour game at best save very very few special cases. Hell we experienced the power creep of graphical progression firsthand recently with the new Metal Gear that surpassed its previous game in budget by tens of millions of dollars and produced a vastly unfinished game. loving art assets we expect now are insanely expensive in both time and money to produce that it has killed a great degree of storytelling in big named companies and now can only be found within the indie market with callbacks to SNES era graphic styles.

The only reason we got an announcement for a Final Fantasy 7 remake is because its literally a money printing machine but I highly doubt it will surpass the original in terms of freedom of movement. The story has already been done as well so playing such an rpg is going to be hella weird when compared to first playthoughs of any rpg like its kind. I know a good number of you ate that poo poo up with titles like Xenosaga, Wild Arms, Dark Cloud, Final Fantasy 7-10, SMT Nocturne, Persona, .Hack, Suikoden and Shadow Hearts. Those games had some serious mileage but making those games today with our current demands for graphical quality would only be attempted if it was a sure thing (Like Persona and Final Fantasy) so all the shots in the dark that these once were is dead.

Shame. Good JRPGs are dead.

I remember reading in an earlier interview when Oda had that he wasn't really very good at drawing women, so he tends to overcompensate. It's one of those things where, yeah, it's lovely, but at least Oda's generally like "I know, right, I should really learn to draw women" and then never does it because he's Oda.

And franky came out ahead of every single other person on the crew by a loving mile just because of his hand.

Franky is the best character and even though nobody likes him in Japan, he still gets plenty of screentime because he's clearly Oda's favorite.

Probably because he isn't Japanese. Oda designed all the straw hats after national culture identities.

So Franky being an loudmouthed speedo super masculine gun nut that runs of cola is American as gently caress.
