Well, the good news is that I guess Draft Kings and Fan Duel commercials aren't on in the NYC-area market anymore. I guess the NY attorney general saw to that. The bad news is that his crusade didn't target Draft Ops, so I get to see their commercials during every single hockey game instead. And it's always the same one with Rich Eisen, who I guess is some ESPN talking head.
That's something that wouldn't be out of place in an episode of Broad City. Therefore, it owns.

Where did this Draft Kings poo poo come from? Last season they weren't around, and now they're doing full court press on radio and TV and sponsoring teams and actually have draft picks be officially part of the LA Kings broadcasts.

They're having a big advertising push so that they can squeeze as much money as they can out of the thing before it's classified as sports betting it every state.

They've actually been around for several years, but flew under the radar compared to regular fantasy sports. However, this summer they both closed massive funding rounds ($275 million for FanDuel, $300 million for DraftKings) and dumped a lot of the money into marketing.

Luckily, Eric Schneiderman (the attorney general I talked about in my post) is making a big push to do just that. His original case was implicating Fan Duel and Draft Kings in the saddest insider trading scheme ever. By the way, did you know that there are lobbying groups that are founded for the sole purpose of boosting daily fantasy sites? A lot of crooked people in Albany sure do, because they're being paid off by them.

The absolute worst thing about them is that no matter what you sport you watch, you can't escape them. Even the NHL and MLS aren't immune to their schemes.

No matter how horrible Lexus holiday commercials are, just remember that they used to be so much worse. The videos in the article have since become private, but one of them involved giving a family member a Lexus, and the backdrop was a loft apartment with its own elevator. Also, all of them took place in a bizarre alternate universe where the Lexus December To Remember jingle was instantly recognized by anyone who heard two seconds of it.

They still have White Diamonds commercials in some form, I saw an extreme shortened version the other day. That's gotta be one of the longest running even among holiday commercials, right?

I imagine it has to be. I mean it's been on TV every Christmas for at least 30 years. The only other ones that come to mind as being almost that ancient are some of the Folgers commercials and the M&M one with Santa, and that one is only about 20 years old.

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.

There's two Western Pennsylvania December-only commercials that are way up there. There's a Pennsylvania Lottery commercial that's been running so long that a good percentage of the people in it might be dead by now and a restaurant chain (Eat 'n Park) commercial that's been running since 1982.

And the Corona palm tree with lights has to be closing in on 25.

I'm pretty certain the "Happy Holidays from Anheuser-Busch" ad where they have the Clydesdales trot around in the snow is at least 30 years old.

And do they still show the Norelco ad where Santa rides a shaver head?

This commercial for an event hall in Brooklyn was made relatively recently, but it's made in such a way that makes it look really old.

I actually met the old man in the commercial. They opened a beer garden there this summer, and he told me to not put my giant mug of beer on a table. After I recognized him, he said, "We make your dreams come true!" to a group of people looking around.

The Clydesdale Budweiser ad apparently came out in 87 so it's one of the oldest ones running and the Corona one came out in 1990 so it's exactly 25 years old. Christmas ads and advertising in general during this part of the year is fantastically weird and crazy.
