So when do we start a pool betting on the day that NASCAR announces the franchise system? Oh, and LASTCAR had a thought-provoking column over the weekend as well.

I liked the idea, but at the same time, if the racing sucks even one race is too many. Make it competitive and two races isn't enough.

Monte Dutton talks about how he ended up leaving the "official" NASCAR media:quote:When first I managed to finagle a job writing about NASCAR, I thought my knowledge of its history stood me in good stead. I came along when one guard was changing and stayed until a new guard relieved me. I didn't get escorted out of the fort and have my sword broken in a ceremony of dishonor. I just stopped getting a paycheck. I can't tell if he's saying he was asked to not ever come back to a track again or what. http://www.competitionplus.com/cp-motorsports/cp-motorsports-%E2%80%93-monte-dutton-the-difference-in-a-distance

Speaking of gone, Marvin Panch. I randomly met him at a really cool hole in the wall racing museum in Daytona. He was a cool guy who seemed to think Ryan Blaney was probably better than Chase Elliott and might be right.

Cole Whitt is out at FRM. Looks like it'll be Chris Buescher in the 34 and the 38 is unknown. I'm hoping Landon Cassill gets the seat since Hillman is no more.

Apparently K&N East is running at NJMP this September. I believe it's the first time any NASCAR affiliated series will run there. I've never been there but I'll definitely be going if possible

That's tempting, if they were gonna run the mods there again, I'd totally go.

mearn posted:Is Hillman folding up entirely or are they just on the outside looking in with this charter crap? Hillman is folding. There were already money issues, but not having a charter was a death blow. From what I've heard he's working for Jay Robinson who has acquired at least some of the equipment. Boomer The Cannon posted:Wouldn't they have the 33 points available to them? The 33 charter/points are Joe Falk's, and he's now apparently involved with the 95 team.

And the Charter system, the heel turn of the big dogs to align with The Association to get what they want and gently caress the little guy, has its first victim. Is it pretty much understood that Kauffman's only interested in RTA and the Charter at this point until it's in place, at which point he fucks off back to whence he came?

I need something to distract me from the impending CBJ loss. Stadium Super Trucks in CyTube starting shortly. e- "Robby Gordon may be one of the greatest drivers of all time". ...I mean, he was pretty talented and drove and won in several different forms of cars, but there might be a couple guys who rank higher. Yeah there's quite a few names ahead of him, but there's no denying the guy can drive.

I'd put him in the top 30 all time somewhere. His wins aren't impressive, but the guy has been pretty successful at a high level in multiple disciplines.

I thought Toyota should have picked him when they first arrived instead of Waltrip. I wish I could find the article that also had that idea at the time, but it had the best description of him: "The epitome of nonsuccess."
