Is there a reason you can't do a square crop? I think it would look fine and kill the branch.

Yup, looks even better!

Your home dev suffers the same problem a lot of mine does. Dull colors with greenish skin tones and purpley shadows. I use the same kit and I wonder if it's a characteristic of the kit itself (doubtful because there are plenty of good examples online), incorrect temperature, or the scanning process.

it could just be I hosed with it too much. I'm horrible at getting the colors right 75% of the time. Especially skin tone.

This is the same dev cycle (but this is ektar) and it looks fine. So I'm probably just loving it all up in post.

Developed e-6 for the first time last night and I'm happy with the results. I definitely just suck at processing Portra 400. (hail satan)

That smile on the woman in the back looks pretty sinister. Could just be the angle.

dont even TRY it, pal

Nice. Hot shoe mounted flash hanging to the right since the camera is vertical? I tend to turn my camera the other way so I'm hanging it from my trigger hand, but then compose my shot to the left out of non-flash habit. I'm getting a lot of unbalanced pictures.

Thanks, but way less effort than that though, taken outside of a bar at night, light was just from some street light.

Cameras are fun at bars/while drinking. I'm hoping tonight I'll be able to snag a few keepers/not break my camera while drunk.

The crop is too tight. It looks over-processed. Like you're trying to tell a story and they're not natural people.

Loosen the crop. A portrait can tell as much of a story from much further out than you're imagining.

It's a tad bit too red maybe.

As far as the crop, not much I can do. The shot wasn't that wide to begin with. I'm thinking about getting a wider lens for the Minolta I've been shooting these on anyway.
