While I'm probably a bit late to say this, another thing for Draygon, is depending on the hack (Redesign for a perfect example) bosses might have new weaknesses coded in. Draygon in Redesign, know the timing when they'll swoop right by? Drop 3 bombs and roll to the side, and you'll have a dead Draygon in less than 10 seconds. :v:

The actual ending of the Advent hack was anticlimatic in a way, I was waiting for the video title the whole time and I got excited when the save broke things and, something you didn't seem to notice in the video, the map started acting up after you reset. Then it ended without incident. :geno:

Metroid prime only gets more magical for me the more I know about its guts. I watch speedrunners go out of bounds and every single time I'm surprised by how completely the illusion grabsl me when they get back in bounds.

I always refer to the Ice Spreader as the Diffusion Missile, because that's exactly what it is. Although I think it is probably less useful in Prime than it is in Fusion.

IIRC that's kind of hard to pull off due to the rooms shape. Plus if I remember all of them explode at once? Probably wrong. Other big weaknesses is Ridley dying REALLY quick to pseudo screw attack, also Botwoon you could one shot with the screw attack which you could get as soon as you had the speed boost if your shine sparking was good enough. My FAVORITE though is the entire lower Crateria region (hell the whole loving game really...) was designed in such a way you could, with enough patience(or save states :v:) shine spark through the entire mandatory underwater segments and get into Phantoon's room which was designed with tiny slopes to let you hold a shine(granted you ended up under a platform so you had to get out quick and recharge) and blast him with it as soon as his eye opened, killing him instantly. For THAT much effort though, unless you're speed running, might as well just do it the old fashioned way.

Redesign is a really silly and stupid hack, which is why I 100%'d it about 5ish times now. Whenever I finally have time/motivation, I need to do Axiel edition to completion, along with a few more of the hacks FPZero listed.

I think it was mentioned in an earlier video, but spoilering just in case Prime 3 did it with the move to Wii, and I think the Trilogy collection implimented it in the first 2.

A lot of people didn't like it, but I loved how they expanded the morph ball puzzles in Prime 2. It became more of a gameplay feature instead of a movement ability, and I thought it was great.

Fae mentioned The Void, and how it is a good game that is perhaps not fun to play. If, like me, you agree but have no desire to actually play the thing, there is a very good LP of it from this very forum, which delves into the philosophical nature of the experience, by CannibalK9. Shame about the flamethrower. That basically looks like a super expensive handheld burner. I guess Samus could theoretically use it to light a cigarette while facing away from a planetary explosion.

I haven't played around with flamethrowers in games a lot, but I have fond memories of Fire Beam in FTL. :getin:

e: Also, the half-charge is pretty useful with the Wave Beam, as it still stuns the enemies for a moment. You can basically stunlock anything vulnerable to it.

Now that we've gotten all the beams, I can mention what is probably the weirdest thing to me about the various powered pirates: The Wave Pirates are the strongest and hardest to deal with and you run into them first and most commonly. Power Troopers die in a single Super Missile, Ice Troopers only need one charge shot + 1 missile, and Plasma Troopers melt to a single charged plasma shot, plus maybe one or two cleanup shots. Wave troopers, at minimum, need 3 or 4 fully charged Wave Beam blasts, and they usually spawn in groups of 2 or 3.

So even though they're supposedly the weakest of the Troopers, the Wave Beam is so much worse than every other beam that they become the scariest of the bunch. The Wave Buster can work to stunlock a whole group but as FP showed this video, that eats like 50 missiles to deal with 3 pirates.

They rebalanced the Beam Troopers in the Wii version, so Plasma and Ice troopers are not so easily disposed of. Power Troopers are still chumps though, regardless of how many super missiles you have to use (because I don't particularly care how many super missiles I have to fire; in fact, the more I get to fire super missiles at stuff, the better).

I would not call Wave Troopers "scary" at all. First, their weakness is the Wave Beam, which can be used (as FPZero and I had noted on separate occasions) to stunlock them with half-charged shots. Second, their damage actually isn't that great in Normal difficulty. Somewhere in the most recent video, FPZero was surrounded by Wave Troopers and yet he still only took perhaps one energy tank's worth of damage.

Really, most enemies in this game aren't that powerful or tough unless you play on Hard mode. This is the big reason why (contrary to what FPZero said) the balance between beams is out of whack. In theory the Power/Wave/Ice Beams are all balanced with each other in a tradeoff between power-per-shot and rate-of-fire. But in practice, the majority of enemies have so little health that your most powerful beam will just take them down in one or two shots anyway - Metroid Prime isn't a terribly difficult game until the final few bosses.

From the ship it's the fastest way into the Phazon Mines front entrance. The other option is to go all the way through the Chozo Ruins to get to the elevator beyond the Chozo Bowling room and then arrive above the mines entrance near where X-Ray Visor is located. Sometimes you just have to backtrack through an area that you've already done everything in.

Speaking of Chozo Bowling, one of my friends recently told me that the filename of the music track that plays in that room is internally named chozobowling.dsp. We both found that pretty funny.

I was thinking of getting into the Ruins with the elevator off of the Frigate Crash Site (Chozo Ruins East) but I guess you need a glitch to get up there so never mind.
