I understand their angle... they're saying that potential backers of future projects will look at SC as a "flagship" title of crowdfunding and say "woah, those people spent $300 on a space ship but upon release that ship is worth a pittance by comparison" so that $300 doesn't hold it's value in a tangible way in-game. The saddest part is even the $45 ships aren't going to hold their value.

It's a process and everything has its place in the schedule. It's just one of a few space combat games that went for the colorful end of the spectrum. My upcoming favorite is Everspace.

I can't see how that works for ED, unless they've tricked the game into display more than it usually does with some weird resolution/FOV. The best thing about VR in the game is that you can look over your shoulder or up through your canopy.

Want me to send you a build? I don't expect it to perform well AT ALL, because I haven't done any optimization, and Unity Mac builds tend to perform like poo poo out-of-the-box. Oh, and I forgot to mention in the instructions, there's a "Space Brake" which is like critical to stopping your ship from spinning after ramming the dicks out of something. Just hold down "C" You can re-map that input at the "Input" tab when you first launch the game. I tried to PM the folks I already sent the build + guide to, but may have missed someone.

I actually switched my FOV recently to a higher one and just that change altered the sense of scale immediately. I had a better respect for example sitting on a landing pad in a station and how huge that whole place is. Try it if you can. edit: and E:D works fine with 21:9 monitors anyway it could just be that his bigass screen has an ultrawide resolution, it does just show more of the left and right peripheral but increasing the FOV is a way to achieve a similar result on a normal person monitor. On the topic of VR, and the various ways it affects our senses resulting in sickness if they don't match up quite right. It's curious why that would happen, what's the biological mechanism behind why mismatched motion would cause physical illness? Last studies I've read on the subject, the best hypothesis is that it's a survival defense mechanism. When your vision, inner ear, and other senses of physical orientation don't match up properly, your brain/body suspects you've been poisoned and starts sending out the signal to purge in order to evacuate anything bad you may have consumed.
