also being responsible or at least complicit in the deaths of hundreds of poor children, and the suffering of tens of thousands more, is kinda a steep price to pay in exchange for a lovely college degree also the most insufferable people in any college class are the vets who bring up their service in every loving lecture

jarjarbinksfan621 posted:it really does not seem like that. perhaps my perception is skewed though, because the people who are humble about their time in the service are the people you would not even know were in the military unless it came up in an off-topic conversation like health insurance or foreign prostitutes. Most modern veterans are humble about their service because they realize that their "service" isn't much to brag about. Most of it is the same day to day bullshit you deal with any other job. There's a lot of paperwork, red tape, rear end in a top hat bosses, trying to poo poo on company time, etc. Sometimes something cool happens, maybe something blows up, but the large majority of time in service is pretty pedestrian. Even in a war zone there's a lot of time spent playing xbox.

it would probably cost a lot less if after enlistment is up we just feed vets into a meat grinder and use it as livestock or pet food the gi bill seems like a waste of tax money

I heard someone at work anticipating the weekend, better go post a meme that says, "You're working for the weekend, they're working for your freedom." with a picture of a soldier doing jack poo poo nothing in camelshit nowhere. Never enjoy anything, just knowing the vet's sacrifice makes it too painful. Man up Buttercup and do it! Don't be a pussy gay fag lesbian commie bitch that doesn't want to defend freedom. Get out there and boot some Russkie/Syrian skulls! I actually enjoyed my time in, but we also weren't at war.
