Dismissing emotional responses to events is a silencing tactic. You could argue that identity issues today are a result of capitalism forcing people's bodies to become something that can be consumed and contemporary identity politics has to do with people wanting to differentiate themselves to not be literally, a dime a dozen. Ironic, really

my thing is, i don't get being a trans person, and honestly it kind of grosses me out, but i'm also kind of an ignoramus who has been socialized in obvious ways so i'm just gonna get stoned and hope my kids don't hvae the same bad reactive things i do
