Drifters was ok. I didn't like the tonal shifts and wish it stayed a campy action drama thing the whole time. I'll check out a couple more episodes but I might not stick with it.

I'm not sure how well I'm going to keep up with Stella no Mahou as yet. It may be a bit TOO relaxed for me. It's definitely got charm, but I'm not sure that's necessarily enough to hold my interest over a full season.

Mostly, the individual episode felt way too long (immediately after watching the Saiki Kusuo episodes from this last week). I think I would like it better as three 8-minute episodes instead.

Today was a good day for anime.

Gakuen Handsome: These are some handsome chaps. It's a short, so i'm in.

Sound! Euphonium: It's still great! Picking up on the high bar they left the first season in.

Haikyu!! Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa: Literal burning shonen spirit got them to create steam in a scene. :getin:

FLIP FLAPPERS: I have no idea what I just saw, but i'm gonna keep watching. Want to see where this goes.

Magical Girl Raising Project: Puella Mobage Madoka Magica. Watched through the episode and the end got me interested. Hoping this gets good and not another Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers-like twist.

Keijo!!!!!!!!: :yosbutt: It's unapologetic and a comedy both trying and not trying to be a sports anime. So far it's working!

TO BE HERO: Give this a shot y'all. It's only 11 minutes. It's real good.

Izetta: The Last Witch: The episode was pretty good until the end. Then I had no idea where they're going to go with this. 3 episodes at least.

NANBAKA: Fabulous inmates with fabulous guards in a sparkly prison. What's not to like?

Waiting on: Kiss Him, Not Me! when crunchy releases it and Girlish Number on hulu or something.

ninja e - With the exception of Euph, I watched all these today. Also watched/dropped a few others :stare: Didn't realize I watched that much.

real e - :siren: Kiss Him, Not Me is on crunchyroll now! :siren:

Drifters was pretty good. The action sequence in the beginning was probably the best part of the episode, but there's enough mystery in the rest of it that I want to stick around and see how it all pans out.

Gakuen Handsome is amazing. And it's as handsome as advertised!

I thought I was watching a lot over the summer, but the ten or so shows (that eventually got whittled down to six or seven) I picked up during summer pales in comparison to how many I'm following in the fall. I've picked up a dozen or so shows, and they're all really good. We're only a week in but I can't see myself dropping anything that I'm watching. Comparatively, a week into summer and I was already predicting what I'd drop. Fall's turning out to be a great time for anime!

Quite funny. They're pretty blatant about who the "right" choice is, even right at the beginning, so I'll be looking forward to seeing what his major malfunction is. If this was made in the West, my guess would be that he's actually gay.

Come with me and I can show you the world.

But really, if you really want to sub a show and can at least provide a script, I could handle all the timing, typesetting, and encoding nonsense. Or at least point you to the guides I use.

I was just translating directly into aegissub, so I was doing the timing and such as I went along, but I know nothing about encoding beyond what I've picked up playing with settings when exporting stuff from premiere/after effects.

That said, it seems like a bunch of people are subbing this now, so there's probably not much point in me doing it aside from practice unless they somehow all suck.

I'm going to pass judgement on the anime I've seen so far.

Brave Witches was exactly what I was expecting it to be, which I mean in a good way. It's been long enough since the last time I was Strike Witches that I'll be okay with this show being more of the same. I like that the main character is seeking greatness out this time instead of having it thrust on her.

Show By Rock!!# is also more of the same in a good way, and the main characters actually show up this time.

Flip Flappers was beautiful in both visuals and tone, and I'm really hoping it keeps this up for its whole run. Papika's attitude and expressions are just so adorable and endearing that I couldn't get enough of her. So far, this the show with the strongest start of the season.

Izetta's setting and characters did a pretty good job of catching my attention, but out of everything I'm interested this season, this one seems like the one least likely to keep it.

Later on today, I'm going to watch Touken Ranbu, which I'm expecting to be good because of this thread's reactions to it, and Drifters, which I'm expecting to be good of my own free will.

Bubuki Buranki s02's first episode was good, with lots of excellent faces. The CGI and sound design continue to be absurdly good (it's seriously worth watching a couple of episodes just to see how good they are), the new characters' designs are good, Kaoruko owns, and I'm interested in seeing where the show heads in this second cours. The only thing I didn't like is that this first episode is way more slapstick-heavy than the entire first season, which is a weird direction to take it in and I hope that doesn't persist for the rest of s02.

Oh, and I didn't like Drifters at all. It's ugly, I'm not a fan of ultraviolence, and the historical references flew over my head most of the time because my knowledge of pre-20th-century Japanese history is pretty slim.

Well, most of the humour in the first episode was derived from Oda and the other guy comparing historical notes.

I can't see ClassicaLoids becoming more interesting. The hijinks of zany composer-robots (presumably, given the -oids suffix?) isn't a strong enough pull in a season with so many other good shows.

Drifters is too early to call for me, it's good to hear that the background of the characters becomes less important, but it begs the question as to why bother using them then? Also feels weird to watch a show in Hirano's style after Hellsing. Keep expecting Alucard to pop up.

girlish number's pretty good. basically shirobako but from the agent/producer and voice actor side, but maybe unlike some other unfortunate work that aired right after shirobako, time will save this from unfortunate comparisons... its more dramatical than humorous too, which will probably help. i've read what's translated of the manga of this, and it was quite different, i think the anime's better so far. also there's some really nicely animated water in this and a nice op transition

final note, the ln that they're probably focusing on in this show reminds me of trials in the sky

I don't know what to make of Classicaloid yet. Fujita directing it and Sugita voicing Beethoven sold me on it, but I've not been able to settle on how that episode made me feel yet. It was weird.

I digged Flip Flappers, though. They're the only two I've seen this season so far, because I'm way behind on what's even coming out, but I'm going to check out March Comes in Like a Lion and Izetta, the Last Witch. They look cool.

It definitely continues to be very important, a lot of the humor is based on historical jokes and references. If you don't know jack about the sengoku you definitely won't get much out of drifters becausee even though it pulls from more of world history the main cast is Japanese.

A big motivation for a major character is also steeped in the shinsengumi period so knowing about that helps too.
