Did they never release a physical copy of Picross 3D 2 in the US? Or are copies just so rare that they aren't available anywhere? I just got a 3DS and that was going to be a day one purchase except I can't find it anywhere but the eshop.

Japan got two interesting eShop games today: ACE OF SEAFOOD (Wii U), the third person dogfighting game where you play as aquamarine creatures that all shoot lasers for no reason. The original game (Neo Aquarium) was a multiplayer deathmatch thing but this one's all single-player. It's been available on PC for a little while and I have no idea if the Wii U version will ever leave Japan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOfh70-5UVc Brave Dungeon (3DS), an RPG by Inside System, the doujin studio behind Legend of Dark Witch. This game is set in the same universe as those games and recycles many of the same enemy designs but it's now a top-down dungeon crawler with JRPG battles instead of an action game, and they brought in some guest artists/musicians as always. It'll definitely leave Japan and will definitely be sub-$10 when it does. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssUyw464D-s

There's basically no hope of more SNES VC games for the New 3DS, is there? I am a mega-whale who would love to buy Super Mario RPG for like the fifth time if it meant I could have a portable version. (I guess the Switch might have it on VC eventually but ehhh)

You know what I want in addition to everything else that people here already posted? The entire Nintendo Tetris backlog. Nintendo clearly has some agreement in place with The Tetris Company, since the original Game Boy Tetris is on the 3DS VC eshop. There's even no eshop release of the beloved Tetris DS and The New Tetris. I also want to play all the weird spinoffs (and non-Tetris games) that Nintendo published under the Tetris name. That includes Tetris Attack, Tetris 2, Tetrisphere. Screw EA and Ubisoft. Heck, I hope the Switch will just fully support an online HD version of Tetris, Puzzle League, Dr. Mario, Yoshi's Cookie, Wario's Woods, Kirby Star Stacker etc. very soon after launch. C'mon. Give Tetris autists something. (This will not happen. But I can dream... of blocks.) I also want some release of Hatris, which I played a lot on Game Boy, but was also on other platforms. But I have no clue where the rights are for that.

Super Mario RPG may not work. It's one of the titles that doesn't even seem to work as an injected rom for homebrew along with Super FX titles. Hopefully Nintendo figures something out since it would be great to have that on 3DS.

It has some chip that significantly boosted the SNES CPU. Not sure for what exactly, it doesn't look that much more advanced than any other game of the time. That game wouldn't even run in my actual SNES, tried several copies. Every other game except for it worked. Had to borrow a friend's SNES.

Hence why Tetris GB and Tetris Axis were pulled from the digital shop. They wouldn't even allow Puyo Puyo Tetris to be released digitally on PS systems since it's region free and would allow westerners to easily play non-EA Tetris. It's the worst and you can join us in our misery in the Action-Puzzle Game Thread.

greatn posted:It has some chip that significantly boosted the SNES CPU. Not sure for what exactly, it doesn't look that much more advanced than any other game of the time. It uses the SA-1 chip because the SNES CPU is slow as poo poo and the chip is an easy way to keep games with lots of highly-animated objects from running at a decent speed. It's also useful for real-time graphics compression and so on. It was probably overkill for the games that used it but it was a no-bullshit way to get around certain limitations of the stock hardware.

It's not exactly 1:1 but once it hits the point where they're releasing games for money on consoles then it might as well be. I used that distinction here because I think Legend of Dark Witch started as a touhou game. Japan's finally picked up on "Nindies", by the way. Brave Dungeon's the first game with that tag over there.
