Nibbler showed up at my door of a rent house with horrible signs of abuse. It took about a year to break her of pissing when scared, if you picked up anything resembling a stick or raised your voice she would Coward and pee. Whats worse is she got out and got rolled up under a car, broke both bones in her front leg. It was a noodle even with the splint I put on it, had to wait a weekend before the surgery to put the titanium plate in her leg. The Vet kept beating around the bush when it came to price and I had to cut him off and just ask how much, 1500 was way less than I feared. Talking to my sister who changed careers for this specific reason said people put animals down for a couple hundred

Luckily for us, dogs don't care if we deserve them. They just love us anyway.

When my cats came to live with me, I made very good money and the cost of their care was never a problem. I don't do nearly as well now and it's all I can do to scrape together wellness exam fees.

I agree, I have had to watch an old roommate put down his cat for a urinary issue because neither of us had a cent to our name. I wish vets did payment plans, so many lives might be saved.

On a happier note my brother found a box of puppies in the country. He kept one and my parents took one in. Well the one my parents took in ended up with Addison's disease an adrenaline Insufficiency. Lucky for her they have the money for her several visits to doggy ER and the on going meds.
