Last year, I ran Town of Salem Mafia. A game on these forums based off the popular Town of Salem game. The game was meant as sort of a test of the formula, but as a test, I think it was successful. This is not to say it was not without problems. Based off what I learned and observed from the first game, I’ve made some slight changes. I hope you all enjoy. What you must know about playing this game: Basic Game Information *This is a semi-open setup game. You will know (almost) the whole list of roles within this game. The list of roles and mechanics of each role is listed below. *Day One will be greatly abbreviated (12 hours long). Votes will be accepted on day 1, but no lynching will take place during the first day. Day one exists to generate content and get joke phase out of everyone's system. *Nights will run for 24 hours. Period. If you have not submitted your actions within 24 hours, your actions are forfeit. *Day Two and beyond will run for 72 hours. *If your role has a Day Action, your action must be submitted before the end of the day. Hammering, Defense, and Voting *Hammering does not end the day. Once someone has received over 50% of the votes, a 12 hour defense period begins. The accused is able to bargain for their life and make final pleas in hopes of avoiding their execution. *During the 12 hour defense period, everyone has the opportunity to message me via Discord or PM me with whether they believe the accused is INNOCENT or GUILTY. Votes are not mandatory, you may abstain from voting. This 12 hour period can extend beyond the 72 hour day if the person is voted to majority when less than 12 hours remain in the day. *Once 12 hours have passed, the list of votes of all who voted will be posted and judgement will be carried out. The accused does not have to receive 51% of players voting GUILTY to be executed. If there are 10 players, 3 vote guilty, 2 vote innocent, and 5 abstain, execution will commence. *If the player is found innocent, the day will continue assuming that 72 hours have not passed since the start of the day. *If a player is found guilty and executed, the day will end. *A maximum of 3 people may be voted up for execution per day. If three people are voted up and the third person is voted innocent, the day will immediately end. Communicating With Other Players *Mafia Members may ONLY communicate with each other outside of the thread during night phases. All Mafia communication will be handled through Discord, but the Mafia discord channel will only be open during night phases. *Other roles that have night communications will be handled in similar ways. *If you wish to send a secret message to another member during the day phases, PM that message to me and I will pass it along to the other player. The entire thread will be notified that you sent a secret message. You may only send one secret message per game day. Night Actions and Last Wills *As said above, nights run for 24 hours. Actions not submitted within that time limit are forfeit. *Everyone will be given access to a Google Doc. This doc is your last will. You can use it to keep notes. *If you are killed during the night. The first 100 words of your Last Will is posted for the town to read. Think of the Last Will as a diary and last chance to send a communication to the living players, but remember that it is limited to 100 words. *Players in a killing role (Mafia/Serial Killer/Arsonist/Werewolf) may submit a killing note when they submit their night action. This note will be posted alongside the information of the player killed in the night. Victory Conditions *The game only ends when either the town has eliminated all killing threats to the town or the killing groups control majority of the town. *Various roles may have their own win conditions and should they achieve their win conditions, the game will continue with them (depending on the role) continuing to play along. Game Role List Jailor 2 Town Investigative - May be Investigator, Lookout, Sheriff or Spy. 1 Town Protective - May be Bodyguard or Doctor. 1 Town Killing - May be Veteran or Vigilante. 1 Town Support - May be Escort, Mayor, Medium, or Transporter. 3 Random Town - May be any Town role, as long as unique roles do not occur more than once. Mafia Godfather Mafioso 2 Random Mafia - May be any Mafia except Godfather or Mafioso. 1 Neutral Evil - May be Executioner, Jester or Witch. 1 Neutral Killing - May be Arsonist, Serial Killer or Werewolf. Role Information/Possible Roles TOWN Bodyguard Sacrifice yourself to protect one person from death at night, killing their attacker and yourself. You also have 1 bulletproof vest that you may use to protect yourself that night. Action Type: Night Doctor Heal one person each night, preventing them from dying. You also have 1 self heal to prevent your own death that night. Action Type: Night Escort Distract someone each night. Role-blocking a Serial Killer (or Werewolf on a full moon) will force them to kill you. Action Type: Night Investigator Investigate someone for a clue to their role. You will be given 4 possible roles. Arsonists and Framers can throw off your result. Action Type: Night Jailer Choose someone each day to jail for the night. You may talk to them and choose to execute them. You only have 3 executions, you cannot execute on the first night. Executing a town member makes you lose all your executions. Failing to execute a Serial Killer (or Werewolf on a full moon) will force them to kill you. Action Type: Day Lookout Watch someone at night to see who visits them. Action Type: Night Mayor At any point during a day cycle, you may choose to reveal yourself. This action cannot be undone. Your vote will become worth three, but you can't be healed by a Doctor anymore. You may still be jailed or guarded by a bodyguard. Action Type: Day Medium Speak with the dead at night. Seance a living player once to speak with them the following night. You may only seance when you are dead. Action Type: Day Sheriff Check one person each night for suspicious activity. Action Type: Night Spy Pick one player to bug every night. You will see every action that happens to that player. You will also learn who the mafia visit every night. Action Type: Night Tracker Able to see who a person visits at night. Action Type: Night Transporter Choose two people to switch places with each other at night. You may transport yourself. Action Type: Night Veteran Decide whether or not to alert during the night, killing all your visitors. You can only alert 3 times. This attack bypasses all night defense other than doctor's protection. Action Type: Night Vigilante Choose to take justice in your own hands and shoot someone. If you shoot a Townie, you will commit suicide over the guilt the next night. You only have 3 bullets, and you can't shoot night one. Action Type: Night  MAFIA Blackmailer Choose one person each night to blackmail. They are prevented from speaking, and on trial they can only say "I am blackmailed." You can also hear whispers. Action Type: Night Consigliere Check one person for their exact role each night. Anyone that was doused will come up as an Arsonist. Action Type: Night Consort Distract someone each night. Role-blocking a Serial Killer (or Werewolf on a full moon) will force them to kill you. Action Type: Night Disguiser Choose a person to disguise as each night. If you are killed, you will show up as the role of the person you disguised as. Any Investigators checking you will see the results of the role you disguised as. Sheriffs will not be fooled, however, and will see you as a member of the Mafia. The disguise lasts until the next night, and will continue throughout the following day. Action Type: Night Forger Choose a person to forge each night. If they are killed, your forgery will replace their Last Will. You have three forgeries. Action Type: Night Framer Choose one person to frame each night. A Sheriff will see the result as a member of the Mafia, and an Investigator will see said target as a Framer or Jester. Action Type: Night Godfather Choose who to kill at night. The Mafioso will attack the target, if there is one. If not, you will attack the target. You cannot be killed by normal night actions. If visited by the sheriff, you will be seen as not suspicious. Action Type: Night Janitor Choose a person to clean each night. If they die, their role and Last Will is hidden to the Town, and only you will know both. You only have three Cleanings. Action Type: Night Mafioso Choose a target to kill at night. If there is a Godfather, their decision will override yours, and you will attack their target. If the Godfather dies before you, you will become the new Godfather. Action Type: Night  OTHER Arsonist Douse someone in gasoline each night. They will not be notified of the dousing. Selecting yourself will ignite all targets, killing them all. You will be notified if another Arsonist douses you. If you are doused, you can avoid dousing a player for one night to clean yourself off. You are immune to night kills (minus the veteran). Action Type: Night Win Condition: Win when the Arsonist is the last man standing. Serial Killer Kill someone each night. If an Escort or Consort role blocks you, you will kill them instead of your target, even if you didn't select one in the first place. If you are jailed but not executed, you will kill the Jailor. You are immune to night kills (minus the veteran). Action Type: Night Win Condition: Win when the Serial Killer is the last man standing. Werewolf Go on a rampage on every Full Moon (even numbered) night. You will kill your target and all visitors. If you are jailed on a Full Moon night and not executed, you will attack the Jailor. You are immune to night kills (minus the veteran). Action Type: Night Win Condition: Win when the Werewolf is the last man standing. Executioner Trick the Town into lynching your target, who is always a Townie other than Jailor. If they are lynched, you win, even if killed afterwards. If your target dies before being lynched, you will become a Jester. You are immune to night kills as Executioner (minus the veteran). Action Type: None Win Condition: Win when your target is lynched. Jester Trick the Town into voting against you. Haunt a person who voted guilty if you are lynched, killing them and bypassing all night defenses. A Transporter can direct the haunt onto someone else who did not vote guilty, but only if you selected that person to haunt. Action Type: None Win Condition: Win when you are lynched. Witch Pick two targets. You will redirect your first target’s action onto your second target (if possible). You will receive the role of the first target. You can not control a Transporter or Veteran. You have one-shot bulletproof. Action Type: Night Win Condition: Win when the town loses. 8/15 Whenever we fill up, I will start D1 at 9am PDT of the following day. Since day 1 is abbreviated (12 hours) and does not end with a lynch, this will at least give people in every time zone an opportunity to come and throw in some poo poo posts.

I have visited Salem many times. There is a Rita's there where you can get delicious gelato mixed with slushie and it is soooo good. Also I was there one year on Halloween and all of a sudden the Ghostbusters theme started playing real loud and then three dudes dressed as the Ghostbusters burst out of some building and they were carrying ghost traps and those were like the coolest dudes I have ever seen. Also I will play just to make sure I can torture AA
