I snuck into Private Parts showings at the movie theater multiple times when I would get dropped off at the Mall. I loved that movie and the E! show, and unfortunately, Howard wasn't on the radio in my area so I didn't get to listen to the actual show until Sirius, although several years ago I all the shows from '03-'09 which took me like 3-4 years to listen to. I've listened either recorded or live to every show from '03-'13. I'm 34 and this is nearly identical to how I discovered the show. 13 year old me couldn't stay away from the E! show at night. I moved from Houston (which did not carry the show) to Dallas (which did) in 2003 which allowed me to listen to the show "live".

I'll be 30 this year which means I'm probably in the very last age group who listened to Howard on terrestrial radio. I don't know a single other person who gives a poo poo about Howard Stern or is even aware of his existence these days, which I would say is sad but I haven't listened to the live show since Artie left...

I'm amazed he still does the traditional morning drive show format. Does anyone listen to it live at this point? Surely he gets metrics from SiriusXM that proves like 99% of his dedicated listeners are listening to reruns and archived shows on the app.

Yeah, I listen live almost daily. I'm usually on my way to a site from 6:30-7, till 8 or 9. I don't catch the entire show, but yeah, I'm sure lots of people hear it during that time. 38 here. Started listening when they started playing the show in Toronto. 97 or so.

I'm 45 and can't remember the I discovered Howard but it was probably a combo of him being on Letterman, national news and Private Parts (the book, which came out in 94ish I think). I was living in Kentucky at the time and he debuted in Louisville around 95 or 96 and all we had at that time was Bob and Tom and the local "morning zoo". I had a job that required lots of driving so I got to hear much the classic stuff from that era live. The Gilbert/Amy Heckerling stuff I remember in real time as well as Dr. Remulack calls. Then the E! show came out and I was in heaven. When Clear Channel dropped Stern all I had was the E! show until I moved to Ontario in 2003 and I could pick up the show from Buffalo. 27, so I figure I'm one of the younger fans, I got into listening after YouTube pointed me toward the show cause I was listening to a bunch of prank call packs and eventually I started recognizing voices and got curious. Discovering the show was blast, Artie was was my early favorite but following his career was a total downer. Technically the first experience with the show was finding the clip where some pornstars were showing off the "Tongue Chainsaw," but I had no idea who Howard Stern was at that point. Since I've started listening I've been trying to get all my friends into the show with mixed results.

I'm turning 38 this year. I'm originally from a bible belt area that didn't carry Howard Stern so my only exposure to him as a teenager was the E! show and the Private Parts movie. When I was in college I got Sirius just in time for his satellite jump. I loved this era, and I still watch the clips on Youtube all the time when I'm bored. I kept Sirius until early 2010 when I couldn't afford it anymore. It worked out because Artie left around this time, and it sounds like it went downhill afterwards. In Artie news he's still alive, still in rehab, still doing shows. https://twitter.com/artiequitter/status/1066487267127164928

43 here. Only got into Howard shorty after he went to Satellite. Can't really even remember why, but it might have had to do with Artie in some way. Have never heard him live, as I'm in Canada, but found this thread and it helped me become a fan (of anything before DWTS).

33 here and wasn't able to start listening regularly until the Sirius years (which was at the point when I had regular access to the Internet and could pirate the shows) as I'm from the UK and the only Howard presence here was the E! Show. As much as I dislike the direction the show has been going in since Artie left, I will always be grateful for the show for helping me get through 06-09, which was a period of time when I was in school and working crappy jobs to keep myself afloat. '06 was the year I first had an Mp3 player and downloading the new shows every day helped me get through a lot of lovely shifts.

34 here. I remember listening to him on my morning drive to high school, but I would be lucky to listen to something without commercials. I don't now how people listen to regularly, I'm never around a radio that long. I was a huge fan of the E! show when I discovered it in high school, but remember not having access to the On Demand show for various reasons (parents cable didn't have it, no option at college dorm room). I already had Sirius for the switch, but remember dropping it because I was never in my car to really enjoy the show. Then I think in 2008 I moved to Chicago and was just downloading the shows to listen on my iPod on the way to my job while riding the train. I know people say the show is crap these days, but I am actually able to listen to the live show in its entirety every single day on delay, plus listen to Sternthology. I would have killed for this tech in 2004

I remember trying to tune in a couple of times when the show first started on Sirius. Both times all I got was Howard talking about his lawsuit against CBS or something and I thought it was the most boring thing I ever listened to. But then one day I just flipped to the channel out of the blue and caught the Artie Roast and I was hooked.

Grant DaNasty posted:...Artie left around this time, and it sounds like it went downhill Artie owns and I wish he never left. But no. He is a genius and that is without question. The major Artie 'bit of a stumble' for the show was never having a legit word for word godfather reading. From start to finish. They did tease that idea once but it never happened as far as I know. With that in mind I sorta wish that 101 would play the Jon hein fast food audio book at one point. Or put it on indemand. It is hella funny whenever the small clips of that appear.

I'm 33 and mostly got it into stern because of the e show. My parents are also from western new york and were always big fans of his show though we couldn't listen to him on the radio when we moved to North Carolina.

I'm 23 and I grew up listening to Howard on Sirius in the mornings with my dad. Since he used to take me one night a week (divorced parents and all that poo poo), we'd wake up early for school the next day, get breakfast, then he'd drop me off. We always listened to Howard in the car. My dad was one of the first people that I ever knew to have a satellite radio, and he probably bought it as soon as they announced the switch from terrestrial. I'm really grateful that my dad wasn't some prude gently caress trying to prevent me from hearing that kind of stuff - granted, I was 10/11 around then, so I wasn't super young either. I guess he figured I was gonna hear that kinda poo poo anyway in life so he might as well introduce me to some of the best of the best and have a good laugh together

Artie's nose is starting to go flat, which reminds me of Daniella Westbrook - a British soap actress who took so much coke that her entire nasal septum disintegrated. Linked for gross - https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d0/59/e1/d059e10d38f9e9fedf9058579197fda7.jpg
