Well, yes, they are the largest members of order Mustelidae. They're all kind of shaped like bitey sausages.

Fun fact, I've been doing a project for a class (biology 420 :420: animal behaviour) that involves watching trail cam footage of river otter latrine sites. I can tell you with some authority, therefore, several things:

1. River otters come out of the water to poop.
2. Pooping is frequently a social event and involves a lot of rolling around and digging and playing and grooming.
3. River otters do a little dance when they poop. Or expel scent from their anal glands.

Otters, they're cute even when they poop.

Edit: Actually, I need an example, don't I? Here, behold the poop dance:

That is one happy poop dance! That's how I feel after a beef jerky binge.

And you can almost hear the first one going "Aaahhhhh... " as he pees.

Also, sea otters have more hairs per square cm than people have on their whole head. I got to feel a pelt at a marmam conference and it's easy to see why they got hunted for them. Soooooo soooffffftttt!

Giant otters are longer and sea otters get heavier than wolverines. Wolverines are more like big badgers. They're really only like a meter long.

Which honestly makes it a questionable choice for a bad-rear end superhero name. I mean, I'm sure they're ferocious and scary for anything small enough for them to eat. My dad had a story about back when he worked in the bush in the 70s, a wolverine coming into their tent in the middle of the night looking for food, which was a bit of a scare for everyone involved, and there was some snarling and shouting before it ran off, but honestly that's the only time he's even ever seen one.

Wolverine is supposed to be, like, Danny devito's height, so it makes sense. Small but fierce.

They take down reindeer regularly and have been recorded killing moose and elk, thats pretty drat good for an animal that size. Wolverine chose his name wisely :colbert:
