The lakers are such a hilarious train wreck. My favorite moment from the small bit of the game I saw was Russ doing an iso 1v1 drive with the game on the line for a shot that barely hit rim. Sir you have LeBron on your team

Field goal attempts is a dumb stat to lead in especially because it shows how inefficient his scoring has been BUT there’s a reason his usage is so high for a rookie and you can probably see it with the “potential assists” number more than doubling the actual assists. He did get 10 last night though and only took a few shots.

Cade is the best offensive rookie so far, but Mobley has been unbelievable from a defensive standpoint. His offensive game is there but raw too. When's the last time a rookie was net-positive defensively with this much playing time? The teams defense is way better with him.

There are probably a handful of rookies this season that have accomplished this, tbh. Pretty sure Herb Jones is another, and he is a second-round pick.

Trey hasn't gotten enough minutes to really qualify for this discussion, imo, and has actually been getting pulled due to losing track of his man off-ball too many times.

e: but, yeah, this rookie class has a lot of quality defenders that are good enough offensively to get heavy minutes right away and make a positive difference to their team

In particular a 7 footer having that impact is rare. Not unheard of, but most of the time guys that size take a couple seasons to get good. Mobley came into the league moving so well though. 6'8 swingmen coming in and being good defensively is more common.

My least favorite thing other than the crypto and nfts and wasting Embiid's career is the stupid tale of the tape bullshit they post before every game with bad cherry picked stats to try and make them look better than an 8th seed team
