Yeah, I believe Roske was intending to change the makeup of the supreme court before it eventually hands down a supercharged sequel to Heller that will gut existing state level gun laws. I think killing judges is a dumb way to do it that would have almost certainly backfired though.

I mean, the people who say that are almost all operating with the very inclusive (lax) definition of civil war. Basically under that version, both the troubles in Northern Ireland and Iraq under the occupation are civil wars, and in the outer extreme even Jalisco Mexico etc. Nowhere close to 1937 Spain in other words. When they say civil war they've ment a weakened or retreating state control of violence, a government that abandons some places to their internal factions but still claims national sovereignty over it. Not a war civil war. They arguably don't know what war is.

That Officer in Grand Rapids Michigan who pulled a 360 no scope back of the head shot on the unarmed African immigrant back in April? DA has now charged him with 2nd Degree Murder. There’s a lot of video footage of this one. As much if not more than George Floyd. I watched it, all of it, and the only thing I can conclude is that it’s not enough for 1st Degree but it’s a slam dunk for 2nd Degree. He’s going to prison for a very long time. I have no loving clue what kind of case they could even try to make for him. He’s a murderer and he’s on taping murdering. Shot from multiple angles all at least HD and some 4K! God we’ve got a police problem in this country.

There's some serious questions about where the economy is going next, but at the moment by all measures output, employment, incomes, etc are at historic highs. Wages actually moved in the right direction for the first time in decades, even if that's coming from a pandemic response. The covid relief payments probably even pushed down income inequality for the first time in a lot of peoples' living memory.

Wages only went the right direction until inflation caught up and flew past it, though. Insert twitter reaping/sowing post. How much of this could have been avoided if we just gave regular people like, half, or hell, a quarter of the money we gave corporations in total over the past two odd years?

Inflation is going to gently caress things up. The Fed totally dropped the ball (re: lied while the bull market was rampaging) and is now going "Lol whoopsie, we hope it won't be so bad " and well, hope is not a good plan. Like Yellen literally said she hopes it won't be as bad as projected in a Congressional testimony

CRUSTY MINGE posted:Wages only went the right direction until inflation caught up and flew past it, though. No on can seriously going argue (from the left) that there couldn't have made better policy choices over the last few years, but objectively "the economy" is doing better for more people than it has in some time. It doesn't help that a big chunk of the population are toddlers who can't get over the fact Trump lost and complain about gas prices from their lifted trucks. They were never going to be satisfied with any result. That said Democrats are going to do the usual thing and fold on everything economically and do nothing for the next two years, and if there's a recession in the future that will make it worse.
