Onboard with Derek Bell is a great DVD, it also has laps of Nurburgring Nordschleife, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and I think one more track, all in a 956.

You know how sometimes you can watch a video of someone driving an insanely powerful car on a challenging course, and they make it look so easy, you idly think "yeah, I could do that."

This video is the antithesis of that thought. I nearly died just watching that, driving that thing has to be an insane handful.

I do wonder what the guy used for an engine. According to the video info, it's a 2.1L turbo 4, but which one? I'm thinking a bored and/or stroked 3S-GTE or perhaps a ZZ of sorts

It's called a 503E and used the 3S-GTE as a starting point but I'm sure it doesn't share a single part with the production engine. It was also used in Rod Millen's Pike's Peak Celica

From what I was able to dig up, apparently this '503' was based on the Toyota 3T. Is that the same as or similar to the 503E?

Tearing rear end in a busted beater, AWD donut spare slides, using the grass for overtaking, completely irresponsible driving on a public road, paintball target practice, fireworks AND poorly thought-out jumps? Hell yeah!

My guess is that a whole lot of cheap beer and "ya'll hold my beer and watch this!" was going on behind the scenes, as well

That video is absolute grade-a certified hooning of the highest quality, and those guys are the new Kings of Hoon.

Of course it's highly irresponsible behavior and should never be replicated etc.

That video was far, far more enjoyable than the Ken Block one, and it looked like the driver had a fair old amount of skill, too.

Also, the hard parking/chip eating scenes were great.
