Houston has picked up a stud safety named Kent Brooks, projects to 4*, supposedly the best DB prospect in Houston not going to Texas...but whether or not he stays at UH is a mystery since Arizona State wants him bad.

Jesus Christ, Kiffin.ESPN article on recently signed Gamecock Alshon Jeffrey posted:According to Jeffrey and (coach)Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina. This was apparently the last ditch effort the night before Jeffrey announced for South Carolina and I know other coaches mudsling but it's very rare to hear a player relay the story and knowing Kiffin's history and ways I don't doubt for a second that Kiffin said it. Still, goddamn.

CB WVSports ran an article today on the two Varina prospects that Beatty is hard after, Marquis Wallace and Trey Johnson stating that they were still high on WVU. Got any insight? Wallace I think is the big prize here- 6'3 284 guard who slimmed down 30 pounds last year, has been compared to Alan Faneca.

I don't see any reason why Tennessee shouldn't win 7 games. I wouldn't be surprised if they even win 8 depending on the QB situation. That said I really believe he needs to improve every season, and have somewhere around a 10 to 11 win season by season 3 or 4. If not the natives will get real restless.

The thing is unless he only wins 5 games and no more than 7 in 2010, Kiffin will be around for at least 3 to 5 years. If he wins 10+ he will be around for awhile. I still say Kiffin is in a very nice position because he really has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Edit: In better news for Vol fans the Vol Nation board and local radio have both picked up today the rumor about Bryce Brown is taking another visit this weekend to Tennessee. The rumor is this time he is bringing his family with him on the visit. If this is true and given the fact that he never made his unofficial to Miami I believe he will be a Vol. Plus they are opening Spring Practice this weekend to 10,000 fans (I will be one of them) so this could be a very good weekend. If Vols sign Brown and given the fact the already signed Oku I will be impressed. Say what you want about Kiffin, but Brown didn't even consider Tennessee until Kiffin came a calling. If the rumor turns out to be untrue the word is he has it down to Tennessee and Oregon (he is really stuck on the Nike thing at Oregon), with LSU having an outside shot. Oku and Brown would be a great doubleshot but we still need a line that can block. nate fisher fucked around with this message at Mar 11, 2009 around 01:31 |

Wallace was possibly thought to be high on the board for VT but I've since learned the exact opposite and I doubt VT offers. Kid is also about 6'1 and noone I talk to gets where this 6'3 or 6'5(from most recent Rivals article) comes from. Johnson is a speed back and VT is not taking one of those in this class with Ryan Williams and David Wilson on campus. VT's only taking 1 RB this year and it's gonna be a big boy(most likely Zach Zwinak from Maryland). Good players, just not what VT needs with this class. VT definitely won't offer Johnson and Wallace would have to camp and earn one, which I doubt he does. If WVU wants them they're all theirs. nate fisher posted:Lane Kiffin say this time he is innocent. It's more about who said it. If Frank Beamer was quoted by a recruit as saying that people would be shocked and the large majority wouldn't buy into it because there's never even been a hint of Frank being an aggressive prick in his career. Meanwhile, Kiffin already has more than a career's worth of fuckups for some coaches and it becomes a lot more believable with him. Kiffin has so little credibility right now you could make up a story on him murdering cats for fun and people wouldn't immediately dismiss it. I don't think it's a big deal. Some coaches do really aggressive and hard sells which involve slinging as much mud as possible. This is no different and like I said, it gets said all the time it just rarely gets relayed by a recruit like this. I absolutely think Kiffin said it but it really doesn't change anything. The SEC is cutthroat and nasty and its very hard for coaching staffs to try and rise above it without losing their jobs in the process or putting out a crappy product.

This early list is akin to preseason polls. Handful of kids at the top stay where they are, the other 95% shift around, drop out and some new guys come in. Whereas polls are too stubborn in their rankings, Rivals' lists are too fluid. Both lack a happy medium. Kids on Rivals can be scrutinized for 2 years and be amazing every time and they can have a bad Army AA game and they will go from 5* to 4* or from #40 to out of the top 100 in the blink of an eye and vice versa for kids going into the top 100.

There better be some great film yet unseen on Santreal Henderson, because everything I've seen makes him look like a borderline 4*. He's massive (6'8 300lbs), but he plays with zero meanness, sometimes whiffs on easy blocks, pancakes hardly anyone (at that size it's going to happen even on accident sometimes), and seems not too tough to speed past on the outside. Out of Rivals National 100… Texas already has #48, #68, #70, #75, #86 and #100 And offers out to #2, #3, #6, #14, #16, #20, #24, #62, and #80 We've got room for about 4-6 more kids.

TTU picks up a 5th. Aaron Spikes, RB, 5'10" 185 lbs, 4.45 40. Tech will most likely only take 1 RB this season, but Aaron may be seen as a slot-type speed receiver. I think that he stays at RB, though. His highlight film reminds me of baron batch in that he is constantly moving forward, even when he's avoiding tacklers. I like it. Likely a low 3*, unless he picks up a few more offers (after committed).
