So my tier has supposedly dropped from 5 to 3 over time in CA because my team manages to gently caress me over constantly. Come on you butts I can only carry you so much. My skill rating was like 108, now it's 57. People that have never played the game before probably saw my servers as 36 up arrows in difficulty but they would always decide to join and get massacred then rage. I'm all for helping someone new out but geez do I get shafted by teams so often.![]() One of the recent ones: My team: 1st 65 2nd 22 Theirs: 1st 46 2nd 39 what the gently caress godddddd how do I lose games like this fkin constantly. Man I keep coming back to this every few weeks. It's such a good timewaster, even if I either get rocked or completely dominate someone most of the time. I guess that's just the nature of Duel mode though.

You probably already know, but you can change your teammate's models to whatever you want them to be, and I think they added the option to change the color of the bright skins to whatever you want. You also need to assign cg_enemyUpperColor and cg_teamUpperColor, since that's what cg_weaponColorStyle 2 references. This is what I use for all those settings. It makes all enemies and their grenades bright green Visors, and all teamates TankJr with their actual team color (so you know what team you are on when you hear the announcer saying 'RED WINS'). Given that if i look around in the match selector i can find a few with two arrows up, i guess i'm not ranked very high ![]() Also, I'm the most terrible person at rail shots. And I feel like I'm the unluckiest person in clan arena. In my last game i had 1 kill / 5 deaths and had more points than someone with 4 kills / 4 deaths On the plus side, for some reason strafe jumping just clicked and now i can do bridge to rail pretty consistently

There was another update (changelog). Highlights: - Hitboxes are now cylindrical rather than axis aligned boxes. - Lightning gun does 7 damage at all ranges. - cg_impactsparks 1 will give some visual feedback on hits - Your crosshair now flashes (red by default) when you hit someone; change with cg_crosshairHitStyle and cg_crosshairHitColor - "true vertex lighting" now, maps with it will be generally brighter but have different shading I guess?

My DM6 looked liked someone had taken a poo all over it. Bleh. I haven't been playing regularly so I can't comment on whether or not my lower accuracy was due to rust or the new hitboxes.

I'm definitely not doing as well with the lightning as I was before, but I guess that's okay. At least it burns people at medium range now. I also really like the impact sparks. The default settings aren't super though.

The default velocity setting is I think 128, which means it goes 128 units upward over its lifetime. I actually think it looks better to "drip" down, so I set mine to -50. Not sure what the lifetime default is, but 1000 is the max which I also recommend. This effect looks most impressive when you string together a solid clump of LG damage on someone and it makes a pretty line in their wake. I may be in the minority here, but I actually like electrobit effects over blood splatters at this point. I think the spark explosion is superior to a shower of bloody parts (at least Quake 3's bloody parts... TF2's gibs are still pretty awesome).

Keep in mind that sparks are client-side and thus a poor substitute for hitsounds. I'm not sure if the crosshair color-on-hit is client-side, but I suspect it is as well.

Are you saying that the hitsounds aren't clientside as well? I'm not entirely sure how that's possible given that I think you hear hitsounds the moment you see yourself hit something. I could be wrong, however... my ping is rarely over 30 on the servers I play on. I don't remember ever hearing lag while playing Q3A with much higher pings though.
