Some animals love mail/postmen. It's a guy that comes to visit them everyday like clockwork, who is often friendly to them because delivering mail is boring and a nice animal to visit breaks the monotony. There was plenty of cats and dogs on my dad's route, but his favorite was the squirrel that would run to his truck, or wait there if he missed him when he first pulled up.

My dog absolutely loves when UPS or FedEx come because one of the UPS guys would always bring dog treats with him. And my dad got enough packages that we had a regular guy, so she'd see him often. Haven't seen him for awhile, but she still gets all excited when she hears the trucks and has to have a treat afterwards.

Vaginaface posted:Aren't cats in severe medical danger when they pant? It's not normal behavior for a cat to pant like a dog, but it's possible that the cat was just playing hard; panting like that is how they cool off. It could also possibly be over-stimulated or frightened, or overheated. If it happened for just a short time and was not repeated it would probably not be causse for worry, but if the cat continued panting for a long time, or many times, it should be checked out by a vet to rule out possible serious underlying causes. edit: honestly though, from the look on his face I would guess he was playing and/or running around a lot having fun. If your cat isn't panting, you're not playing good enough! There's a pet store nearby that sells peacock feathers, which I use as a special toy for our cats once in a while. But what they really like is Da Bird, which is just two feathers attached in opposing positions on a bearing, dangling from a teaser. The effect when you flick it is almost identical to a bird shooting out of a bush. I have need to meet a cat that will not stop playing with it until you put it away. Long after they would normally get bored or too tired, they still go after it. They NEED it. Ford is skinny and spry, the more athletic of the two, and it isn't hard to get him panting. Arthur is a fatass who will want to quit and go lie down, but Da Bird won't let him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWojxKNILE4 Boomerjinks has a new favorite as of 23:03 on Oct 28, 2013 |

Peacock feathers are our cat's favourite toys. There's a garden with cafes and picnic areas nearby that has peacocks, so we raid it every so often.

I've stopped using a laser pointer with my kitty, because he is a complete dumbass about it. He'll be panting like crazy so I'll put it away and he'll just start whining and whining. He'll then collapse on the floor, and even though he's too tired to stand up he'll just lay there meowing at me because he wants the drat thing. If I turn it back on he'll run after it for a few steps and then just lay down right in front of it and stretch his paws out towards it.

That's pretty brave. (in case is doesn't come clear from the image, the black woman is stopping the crowd from beating up the neo-Nazi) quote:Thomas has never heard from the man she saved, but she did once meet a member of his family. Months later, someone came up to her in a coffee shop and said thanks. "What for?" she asked. "That was my dad," the young man replied.
