jamal posted:Lots of DI vehicles have the same problem because there is no fuel flow cleaning the intake ports and valves so oil from the pcv system just builds up. For what it's worth, one of the local tuners here has said that water injection on his mostly-stock '15 WRX has really cut down on the gunk on his. Now that BMW has a factory water-injection system in the M4 I would hope it will become pretty standard for DI OEMs.

Wait, so there was like a 30 year period, pre-FI, where Seafoam actually could, maybe, do something positive on badly tuned carb cars. Then, another 25 year period (FI), where it was bullshit. Now, with DI, its utility could be returning?

Seafoam saved my MILs grand cherokee. She drove it 80 miles a day, below 50mph, for 135k. Never went over 3000. I tried to get it up to interstate speed and it just bucked and belched black smoke. Seafoam and new plugs, ran like new. On another note now I'm looking at CTS-V Vs. Fuckers.

I'm not dissing Seafoam. The first time I did it on the beetle, on the bus, and on my dad's 83 Ranger, it was an amazing, black/brown cloud of awesome, sometimes with actual black chunks out of the exhaust. Subsequent times were only white smoke. But for nearly any properly tuned FI car, it's kind of a meh. How long did these DI cars w/o port injectors or water injection last?

I'm really unclear on how SeaFoam is used. I've only just ever dumped it into my gas tank when I filled up if I thought it would help but I've never noticed any benefits. Dead parents chat: Mom died when I was 13 (28 years ago) and I made a buncha lovely decisions and lost a bunch of friends. Long story short, I realized that everyone's gonna die and even your best friends will likely let you down at some point. Just started realizing that living that way is lovely and lonely and awful so doing my best to turn that around. So while no, you can't blame everything on your dead parent forever, when they dies and the events surrounding it do have the potential to impact your life forever. scuz fucked around with this message at 05:52 on Sep 6, 2016 |

You put it into the intake, either directly if possible, or through something like the brake booster line*. You let the car suck it up slowly at first, and sometimes even have an assistant gently keep the throttle up a bit if you have a car that dies the second you take off a vacuum line. After running nearly 1/3rd of the can through the intake this way, you either shut the car off, or let it suck up enough to kill the car. This allegedly keeps a lot of seafoam itself in the intake tract. You then let the car sit for 30-60 minutes, to let it "soak in." The next start is usually difficult, but if it "did" anything, you'll get a big brown cloud. If it's just the seafoam burning, you get a white cloud. Enjoy spewing a white cloud behind you for the next 20 minutes while you drive it off. *a lot of intakes or engine styles, this will only get half of the cylinders.

The expectation is that you feed it in through your intake at a ratio at which it won't combust when the engine is hot, then shut it off, it soaks into the carbon deposits loosening them/making them burn once you re-start the engine and heat it up again.

Lumber looks to be 2-3 times more expensive in the UK, so you're looking at a lot more money for the same thing. There are a ton of places that make kits, one like that seems to be about £15-£20k, and you're looking at about £40-£50k finished. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1381428 http://www.ascot-timber.co.uk/uploads/pdfs/Garage%20Price%20Guides/RoomAbove.pdf Seems to be a lot of land in the UK for under £10k an acre, too.

Went to a website, picked a girl, called a number and made an appointment. Went to a rather nice hotel in downtown Toronto and had some fun.
