I think the conceit that Cum Town are in the Anthony cumia studio is a joke, pretty sure it is such a tiny podcast that they are doing it (at least sometimes) in a conference room at the real-job workplace of one of the hosts That being said, it is not that great of a show and I know this much only because I have an absurdly long commute E: oh and because the one guy's impersonation of the Dundalk, MD accent is just perfect emdash fucked around with this message at 14:44 on Jul 14, 2016 |

The bit they did about the writer encountering scary trans folk buying tickets to see captain america was basically outoftouchwhiteguy.mp3 "Hello fellow sex perverts! What are your favorite sex toys, and your favorite sex positions."

Other casts you should give a shot if you like Chapo: This is Hell! (also a radio show on WNUR predating the idea of podcasts) Delete Your Account Radio War Nerd (Patreon only, but some eps are free) The DigCast with Carl Diggler (another Felix-hosted show) The Scumbag! (already mentioned, Felix and Ed Zitron)

Dolash posted:that guy from Jacobin but it was pretty much fine. Connor Kilpatrick - don't think he gave a great interview but you should pick up the Civil War + Reconstruction issue of Jacobin, which he edited. It's great. Speaking of which Jacobin has a $17.89 subscription sale for Bastille Day today lol.

Has anyone given Street Fight Radio a try yet? I listened to a handful and it's not really my bag. They touch on politics from time to time but it's mostly stoner/drug talk and they aren't remotely as sharp as the Chapo boys.

Not even for the Bastard Executioner or the episode that created the titular podcast, the one where they all go see the 13 Hours Movie?

Jackson Taus posted:OK, I just Patreon'd them or whatever, is there an easy way to get the premium episodes into my iPhone Podcasts app? If you use Downcast you can download the eps to Dropbox from your PC and import them in the app. So no, not really. edit: This is a good podcast, I was skeptical when my friend (who raved about it) told me it was 3 dudes from Twitter on a Skype call, but they were hilarious out of the gate. The William F. Buckley stuff was great. Puppy Galaxy fucked around with this message at 14:34 on Jul 15, 2016 |

Show's political references are slightly deeper cuts than I'm really able to follow sometimes re politics, but they usually make an effort to explain who a person is and they're super funny.

My problem with the show is it compounds my own worst impulses - scrolling through Twitter and accruing disgust at media liberals, and ineffectually railing against them despite the fact that they're relatively powerless. I'd like to see them bring in more outcast academics like Davison and more hard core activists, in the same way I'd like to see most sharp, young lefty people (and just young lefty people, like me) focus less on ephemeral bullshit and more on organizing and deep reading. Just one man's hot take here.

Jeet Heer has been tweeting about the show. I've subscribed to the New Republic throughout his tenure there (since the Franklin Foer era), and have a pretty good sense of how he thinks about his editorial selections. I would bet money on a Chapo article in TNR's next issue, which will be given that magazine's history as the centrist dweeb rag of all centrist dweeb rags.

I like the show but the way that they're already leaning so hard on pushing the bonus episodes is a bit much. You'd think their CIA George Soros Psi-Ops money would be enough for them to not be so hard up for cash.
