Also, sold the Panasonic G3 camera and zoom lens it came with for a mad, mad profit.

Turned around and bought a G5 (really the next gen newer, a lot of Japanese companies skip gen 4 because one way of counting "4" is shi and that's phonetically similar to "death", "shi") and a few lenses with the money.

Already sold half the lenses for another profit, and have the camera and a few primes to see if I can take better pictures of my cars.

It's basically like rebuilding a bit of a car: bunch of components that need to be assembled in a certain way.

Other similarities include manuals that gloss over important stages, specialist tools that you will only use once and taking far longer than a professional would do.

I do indeed have a kitchen. I used to make pizza a lot, cold rising the dough but then I got lazy.

Currently I'd pay ca$hmoney for cake though I'll look into making some so I can get fat for winter.

...I still want a kitchen aid to make my dough less forearm intensive.

I also currently have a 1987 Toyota Supra manual which was £140 to buy, it has poo poo like valve shim clearances, code for the specific bolts which tell you the torque and yet misses stuff like how to adjust the timing. :argh:

Only 33 bucks a dozen? Bargain. A dozen from the better cupcake places - and remember, this is JUST cupcakes - is 36 bucks and one place is $50. Not far from the office you get a dozen for 55 bucks.

There's a coffee and cupcake place that has lines out the door.... 10 bucks a coffee and cupcake. That is a lot but also note a lot of cafes in Sydney sell coffee that is the match for Italy or Melbourne. It's amusing to see American coffee chains keep trying to compete in any way, they just get smashed by a tiny hole in the wall and two guys.

Sociology degree buddy :hfive:

I only became interested in cars midway through high school and started a program in auto mechanics but decided against it as a career. I really enjoyed working on my cars and racing but just loathed doing menial work on rusty appliances.

So of course after I graduated I ended doing automotive electronic installations and was running my own bay until the entire chain was shuttered. Being laid off made me realize just how miserable I was from working on cars.

For the time being I've been doing work for a friend who has a sizeable classic car collection and at a shop that specializes in British sports cars (I should start a thread maybe?) Working on restorations and race cars was my ultimate goal but I'm not sure where it's going to take me. I'm leaning towards aircraft maintenance or industrial design but I don't know how I'm going to get the money to do so :(

TLDR: Hated working on cars professionally, ended up doing nothing but work on cars professionally.

Research eBay pricing, sell them to goons at a discount equal to your eBay fees bearing in mind eBay fees based on the entire sale amount including shipping. If goons don't bite at the 15% or so discount then off to eBay it goes.

Goons will be less likely to abuse eBay/paypal's buyer protection but tend to low ball so stick to your guns on pricing.

I've seen "goon online friends" completely rip off each other on transactions so do your homework.

Ooooh Lord where do I start. And in all honesty, two door Escorts are as hosed , except a bunch of clever people fixed a god awful amount of problems. All those classic Escorts racing have gently caress all factory parts in them..... its all works racing replica or modern implants.

The KE20 wasnt great standard to say the least its more the last gen RWD that are pretty neato. The big difference is that Ford never got the Escort more than a ball of turd... Toyota was beginnig to get reliable and just do poo poo like not leak oil. The 70s RWD cars are still loving awful but hey they ran and lasted that you will still see the odd 40 year old Corolla still knocking around. Yeah, this. I had to do something to make $$, and I've learned that I'm probably going to end up not liking some aspect of whatever it is. People ask me why I didn't become a mechanic, and I tell them that I didn't want to hate cars. And then I regale them with stories from our resident mechanic goons and the hell that is flat-rate. I've got just enough ADD, and the type of brain/attitude that would probably hate *anything* I *have* to do day in and day out. I can tolerate IT stuff in that context. Being in charge of the Mac stuff is better. It's still got some janitoring, but I'm doing some planning and admin stuff now, too. Today I realized that I have no idea how or if our Mac-based file servers are being backed up, so there's a new adventure.

My only regret with cars right now is continuing to work on them on the side and not working on projects I want to be.
