Dude made Shark Tale. In fact, why were the cast of Shark Tale in Shark Tale in Shark Tale at all. Martin Scorsese was in Shark Tale! Martin Scorsese! And he's not even an actor! "Ok, so it's a kid's movie about fish" "Uh huh" "And your character will be a really poorly done caricture of you, and 90% of the movie is awful fish realted puns and lazy references to good movies you were in" "send me the script!" I think De Niro is like Christopher Walken, he just really, really loves acting to the point where he won't turn down a movie if he time to do it (and both of them are doing better than Al Pacino is now). I read a book which said that he was really introverted and shy in the 70s, to the point where Scorsese would push him to socialise and he'd just blush and mumble, so maybe he's making up for lost time. He was really good in Joy, regardless of how disjointed that movie was at times. The way he played her dad where it was controlling in a passive way, like in a movie you could laugh at the dark humour, but if you ever met someone like that in real life, you'd feel really on edge and uncomfortable, that really worked. And he inspired one of the best 80s pop songs, Rober De Niro's Waiting by Bananarama. That's a good song.

Which is the syndicated version that through creative editing completely changes the ending and point of the movie.

Joy was a miserable movie. American Hustle at least had memorable characters and a sweet soundtrack.
