I think this is one of those culture clashes. I'v never understood the american "the customer is always right" mentality. If someone is abusive I think you have every right to be abusive back. As long as you listen and communicate people should man the gently caress up and not act like the world is coming to an end just because someone used the word "gently caress" to emphasise the emotional impact of the statement. Of course its better to just ignore it, but sometimes it feels good to let off some steam. The forum is a place of discussion, it isnt an official press release.

Game development is a passionate job. This isnt someone smacktalking your office excel sheet, this is someone coming over to your house for dinner and smack talking your interior decoration and the weight of your wife.

It's not about reciprocity; it's about taking the high ground. This is a maneuver aimed at giving you more power in disputes, not less. You make your opposition look like children and paint them into corners.

As a small time indie developer, dealing with your playerbase is absolutely the worst thing about making games. A chunk of them will utterly hate you to the point of stalking and harassing you online for very menial stuff. Every minor update, every tiniest bug, every deviation from what they imagine the game should be like might as well be a personal insult to them. I can keep my cool but I completely understand Johan flipping out occasionally.

To use your FPS analogy, it would be like battlefield 1942 where the single player mode is just the multiplayer maps, but with AI dudes. Same health, same weapons, same mechanics, just dumber opponents. Same thing with EU4, the single player game is just a multiplayer one, but all the dudes are AIs.

So, what strategies seem the most viable with the new stuff? Tried a game of Poland and France, but got very aggressively contained by coalitions. Probably best to play a slower tempo and take advantage of the truce timings to extract lots of concessions from countries other than your primary targets, instead of just vassalising everybody in every war.

I'm having some trouble getting Wiz's AzeriMod to work on my install of Victoria II.

I've followed the instructions, and I have the unpacked file sitting in the mod folder in my V2 folder along with the .mod file. When I boot up V2 and select the AzeriMod checkbox, it takes me to a fresh install of V2 (I don't have any savegames or anything from my other install) but the map and the scenarios are the base V2 ones. I tried deleting my map cache, but that didn't help either.

I'm not sure if I've done something wrong, so any help would be appreciated.

There's a second AzeriV2 folder sitting outside the Mod folder in the V2 folder as well, and I'm not sure if thats meant to be there or something just unzipped wrong. It only has the gfx, log, and map folders in it instead of all the ones from the AzeriV2 folder in the Mod folder, and it had its own map cache that I also deleted but AzeriV2 still doesn't want to work. I am kind of afraid to touch it, but could that be what the problem is? Or is there meant to be a folder with the mod name in the regular V2 folder with some of the files in it?

I'm running V2 3.03, if that helps any.

Thanks in advance, I'm kind of at a loss here.

Asking this again, because it got lost in the AIchat and the MPchat and whatever else happened.

I tried deleting everything to do with AzeriV2 and unzipping it again (the AzeriV2 folder in the normal VictoriaII folder didn't appear until after I tried booting up AzeriV2), before wiping the map cache from Victoria2 and going into V2's folder in SteamApps and emptying the map cache there. Still, it just takes me to the vanilla 1836 country choices screen.

I've kind of hit the end of my mod-related knowledge so any help would be appreciated, thanks again in advance. I just want to enslave America with the Cherokee :smith:
