Sad to see Keaghlan go, really thought she was going to make it to at least last 5, maybe even final four. Really dug Cig's snake man and it had to be real close between him and Dina's ""sexy"" snake lady. Surprised they didn't bag on her's for having a bulbous head like the green python's though.

I was pretty sure Cig would win too, though I suppose it's a little less flexible in terms of speaking/expression. It's a tricky balance. I'm also glad they rewarded the guy who went real subtle. It was a bold choice and could easily have looked indistinct but I could totally see that in whenever the next G. I. Joe reboot is.

Yeah I liked the subtle one too, it'd probably work the best in a movie because you'd still be able to tell who the actor is. Also I'm glad turquoise eyebrows went home, because that poo poo was freaking me out. e: I think Dina's head shape was just executed better so they were okay with it, unlike the saggy one and the feathered one.

Cake Boss's paint job was cool, but I don't think she deserved to win. Cig had a super cool design that was absolutely perfect for the challenge and a good palette to go with it. I wasn't really feeling the subtle approach but it was a bold move. Personally the execution didn't blow me away. Sasha's was bad, though.

I wanted Cig to win because I really liked his design, but mostly because I think out of all the contestants he'd enjoy the GI Joe prize the most.

Cake Boss said that her boyfriend actually collects action figures though too. I kind of thought that if Rachel or Stella had won they would have just thrown them out. Sasha would have probably befriended them and taken them for walks around the neighbourhood and poo poo. Cig would have cut them in half and glued them to his hat. So basically I think they went to the most appropriate person. InfiniteZero fucked around with this message at 19:14 on Sep 19, 2014 |

I also think he should have won just because of the amount of work he did, like those epaulettes were pretty awesome and the detail on the cheeks. Another meh episode for me, though I'm glad Drew finally did something interesting. He's been possibly the most middle-of-the-pack contestant Face Off has had so far.

Even in circles like makeup artists there's a general aversion to "pure" action figure looks like Cig's had, and a definite preference towards poo poo like Drew's Nu-Metal Snake man because it's so bloody cost-effective and "not campy" (even though it is its own brand of early 00s camp). Cake Boss' was the middle ground between the two, so she came out ahead.

If they were doing makeup for a movie, would they reuse the same molds and build new prosthetics every day?

I like this challenge. It's simple, and both personal and general to a lot of people. I'm trying to think what my answer to the question would be if asked my childhood fear and I'd probably go with sharks or corpses (at funerals).

Cig's is pretty much on a whole different level. Sasha's is pretty well done, but not sure how the judges will react. I'm afraid George might go home. Edit: nope, expecting Drew to get the axe. lifts cats over head fucked around with this message at 02:47 on Sep 24, 2014 |

The flippers were a nice touch. If there's ever any need to turn the scary stories to tell in the dark illustrations into actual people, I think they should call Cig.

Whatever happened to the whole Life/Death theme for the season? Did the producers just forget after one episode? Not sure how Cig didn't win that one. The doll was well done, but pretty generic.

I think the judges/producers wanted to justify using their save by choosing her winner. I will be very surprised if Cig doesn't win this season, to me he's been the most consistently good on both concept and execution.

Cakeboss needs to get some confidence. Stand up straight, girl! This was the first time I felt like we really saw some impressive makeup with Cig and Sasha. Up until now I have been unimpressed.

I think Sasha may have won just for the bit with the hairplugs. That's amazing attention to detail. (Reminds me of the doll monsters in a recent Doctor Who.) But yeah, Cig's creation was just a living nightmare. Easily the scariest. Cake Boss probably did the best she could given that she had "tornado clown". I think we're at the stage where most of the people left are doing really good work and would probably be good professional makeup folk if they aren't already.

Oh man I was really worried for George there, glad to see that the judges saw something in it and put him in the 'safe' category. The quality of the makeups was pretty drat good overall this week, the contestants are really hitting their stride now.

Sasha's doll was hands down amazing. The concept was solid, the hair plugs thing was brilliant, and the paint was amaaaaazing. I felt like I was looking at porcelain. I was surprised... I honestly didn't think Sasha could pull it off. This was a no-contest winner for me. Best creation on this season so far. But: it wasn't "scary" the way the others were meant to be scary. Cig looked disappointed he didn't win and I understand, his was also stellar... AND it was ACTUALLY scary. Any other time, he would've walked away with it. Cake Boss gets points for doing something not-terrible with a nearly impossible concept. Tornados lol. At least nobody responded with anything too abstract like "my mom and dad getting a divorce". Mons Hubris posted:Those arms were really disgusting and I would have put him through based on that alone. This is why I love watching Face Off. Because tying strings around foam and then coating it in silicone latex is brilliant. And I love seeing people pull off stuff like that (even though George's overall product wasn't that great).

I think they're doing some mindgame poo poo with Cig (obvious winner of the season) his last two makeups have been spot on for the challenge yet he didn't win. I think they're robbing him on purpose so he feels he has to step it up and produce even greater makeups, Or maybe I'm just crazy and looking too much into it.

Cig looks like he would be insufferable but there is a sort of a endearing sincerity in his horrible fashion choices. I thought his clown character was pretty unimpressive at first glance, but when they went back to it I totally changed my mind, it's just that the outfit he was stuck putting it into (and they've only got so much time/choices when it comes to that stuff) dragged it down for me and that's what caught my attention first. I really wish they'd give the contestants some more time, I like laughing at the bad makeups, but the past couple of episodes have been pretty underwhelming it terms of actually great looking stuff.
