JACKSON � Police charged an 18-year-old township man with harassment after he taped an anthrax threat onto a mailbox at a Sussex Drive house.

The pink note, indicating it was contaminated with Anthrax, was found by a child Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Police charged Anthony Perriello, 18, of Lancaster Way with harassment, Capt. David Newman said.

The note was field tested and later tested for anthrax by the state Department of Agriculture, Newman said. Both tests were negative.

Perriello had posted links to photos of the stunt on a Web site maintained by a Florida man who called Jackson police to say he was not associated with the notes, according to Newman. The links led police to a Web site maintained by Perriello, Newman said.

Sgt. Brian Geoghegan and Detective Mitch Cowit investigated.

Perriello was served with a summons and released.
