Directed by: Martin Rosen Starring: John Hurt(Snitter), Christopher Benjamin(Rowf), and James Bolam(The Tod) The Plague Dogs is one of those really great movies that just didn't get the reaction or exposure it deserves. The story of the two dogs, Rowf and Snitter, is truly depressing, but in a good way. Depressing like Saving Private Ryan is depressing, in that yes it's really, really, really sad, but conveys a strong message and feeling to you the viewer. The author who wrote the book on which this movie is based also wrote Watership Down. Also, the same team who made the movie for that book did the same for this one. So if you liked Watership Down, give this a try. As to pros and cons, especially the animation, you may like it or hate it. It's drawn in the old style; all by hand. Some like this look some don't. Also, no need to worry about anything furry here. The dogs are just that, dogs, except we an understand them. They are not people in dog form. Again, try to see this movie. It may be hard to find, but is available on DVD, I'd recommend Amazon or even Ebay as a good source to buy it. Also, if you look around, I'm sure it's available somewhere out there. NOTE: Do not read the imdb reviews, as they spoil the film. RATING: 5 PROS: The animation, quality of voiceovers/acting, story, message, ending CONS: The animation, ending, story ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084509/#comment
