A good movie. It's as much an action movie parody as it was political commentary. Excellent effort on both fronts. Excellent humor and jokes though. I was dying during the puking scene. 4/5

I came in the theater with high hopes for this movie, but left extremely disapointed. I was expecting the same, if not better experience than when I seen South Park: The Movie the first time. I think I might of laughed once or twice through the whole thing, the jokes and parody were over-used and not funny. Wow, Michael Moore is fat, hilarious! I do respect the level of detail that was put into the movie, but that wasn't enough to save it from being a bore-fest. I should of asked for my $9.25 back. Matt and Trey: Stick with what you know best. 1/2 Star

It was good, but some jokes got stale. It I give it 4.5 simply because it kicked rear end and 5s are very rare. One joke that made me cringe every time I heard it: "911 * 100" "Wow, thats like 91100" / "911 * 1000" "Wow, thats like 911000" / "911 * 2345" "Wow, I don't know what that is"

Very funny, but the Hollywood slams were so blatant and hypocritical that they became stale quickly, and then those jokes went on for thirty more minutes. The slams at Baldwin, Sarandon, Penn and Robbins were easily justified, but when you're mocking Ethan Hawke and Danny Glover you're just bashing actors for daring to have an opinion. It's not really parody when all you do is put words in a character's mouth and say them in a whiny voice; there needs to be some connection to reality or clever satire of their message. For example, if we wanted to give Trey and Matt a gentle ribbing we could have them say "Uninformed Hollywood types shouldn't use their position to preach their political ideals. That's why we went to Hollywood to make a movie to voice our disapproval of their political ideals." On the other hand, having caricatures of Trey and Matt in diapers whining "I want to surprise sex babies. Waah!" wouldn't be funny. Oh well, very funny movie and some good songs, to boot. Technical - 3 Personal - 4.5 Rating (average) - 4

The jokes were not as funny as I expected. There is no "Uncle Fucker" here, that is for drat sure. Not to say that it was a waste of money. If you have to see a movie, go ahead and buy a ticket. Just make sure that you are high, as the jokes are far shallower and unimaginative than one would hope. I mean, the whole "Ha ha they are puppets look how awkward!" thing got old so loving fast. Many of the dirty jokes, too, were so stupid - no panache, no wit. Just boring dumb old dick jokes. There were scenes where I do believe I was supposed to laugh at phrasings of the word "poo poo, dick, rear end in a top hat," and so on - no punchline, just, "Ha ha bad word." Basically, this film is chock full of filler material. Don't get me wrong though, there were really funny moments - most of them brilliant dirty and crass moments as you'd expect from Trey and Matt. Just not enough. Jokes aren't supposed to be boring. 2.5/5

I love South Park and much of Matt & Trey's previous movies, and I went in expecting to like Team America. If I had to sum up the experience in a word... er, syllable, it would be "meh". The movie just didn't have any sort of direction. Every scene looked like you'd seen it fifteen times before - far beyond parody and well into just nailing together bits and pieces and hoping the whole thing will float. There's only so many jokes you can make about Alec Baldwin and still be funny, and the South Park movie made them. The jokes essentially boiled down to "OMG dumb actors", "OMG stupid foreigners" and "Michael Moore is fat". Wow. And gratuitous bodily fluid jokes, of course, which sadly were just about the only ones that got major laughs out of the audience when I saw it. Just meh. If dick jokes and foreigners with accents don't keep you entertained for two hours, you might as well wait for the video. Or something. 2.5/5

It was really, really funny but not the best comedy ever. I think it beat out South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut though. Strengths: Almost always funny, especially the soundtrack Weaknesses: Scenes being gross just for the sake of being gross (Okay, there's only one scene like this and it's kind of funny but I still thought it was a weak point.) 4.0/5.0

very funny, about a third SP retread jokes (they should do more montage songs and jokes :eyeroll: ) but the rest is ribsplitting. basically if you like south park humor this movie will appeal, if you're more interested in having opportunities to be offended they will of course be provided. 4/5 JosephSkunk fucked around with this message at Oct 28, 2004 around 06:20 |

I never saw the movie South Park, and think this film stands alone well without that reference. I laughed all the way through, especially during the sex scenes. It's the funniest movie I've seen in a theater in quite some time. I'll go see it again, definitely. bed bath and beyond, gently caress yeah I suggest staying through the credits so you can hear more of that song. 5/5

Definitely the best film I've seen this year. Pretty much every character is amazing. The songs and effects are all brilliant. I'd have to say the most memorable part for me (and it makes me laugh every time I remember it) was When he's in the car with the terrorists, giving "the signal" of making a stupid face and waving his arms around... It's the visual touches as much as anything which make this film hilarious. The music is top notch, too. We need a montage! 5/5 WhatEvil fucked around with this message at Oct 28, 2004 around 20:39 |

Fantasic movie. I didn't think it was possible to make a full length movie with puppets and not have it be awful. The jokes are funny, Michael Moore is fat, and the sound track, the sound track loving made that movie. The movie was so drat engaging I would kind of half forget I was watching puppets until a gag about the fact they were puppets came up(like the way they walk some times.) In closing, fantastic movie, great sound track, engaging sets, although it did have like 10-15 minutes of drag time but it more than made up for it 4.5/5 Also HohlerMann's wife sounds like a bitch Bum the Sad fucked around with this message at Oct 29, 2004 around 01:20 |

5.0 Loved every minute of it. Folks who are easily (hell...AT ALL) offended should not see this film. Grow a backbone already! I suspect those who find fault are those who's feelings were hurt in some fashion by the film. When telling friends to see the movie, I make sure to tell them to expect to be offended...VERY offended. What is great is that everyone and their mother gets mocked in this movie. Edit: I had clownface worse than with the whacky tobaci a couple decades ago. drat but that hurts after a while. Fogtripper fucked around with this message at Oct 29, 2004 around 01:00 |

Funny, but far from the best thing that Trey and Matt have ever done. I've watched more episodes of Thunderbirds than I care to admit, and while the imitation of that show's stiff and disjointed dialogue was funny at first it really got old near the middle. There was a big lull right before the final sequence, too. 4.0

I'm not much of a fan of South Park, so I was hesitant to see this movie --not to mention I wasn't impressed with the previews of it. However, I'm glad my friends pressured me into seeing this with them. This has been one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. In terms of crazy, tasteless, offensive comedy: 5/5

This movie loving rocks. I'm not sure what the people who gave this bad reviews were expecting. Everyone in the theater where I saw it was laughing throughout the entire movie. Some people were even singing America - gently caress Yeah! as we were walking out. Great movie, and easily the funniest I've seen in years. 5/5

I had a great time catching this movie with some buds of mine at the local theater. What I liked best about it is that the previews I saw didn't really show any of the funny parts (most comedies show all the funniest scenes and then you go into the theater expecting this laugh fest but you're almost always let down). I also like how they pretty much made fun of everyone / everything going on currently, especially with in some situations not really mentioning specific important people... Though I'm surprised they didn't do anything with Saddam, Osama, or Bush. I wonder why?? Pros: The songs, funny characters, voices, stereotypes, everything Cons: Dealing with people who take the movie too seriously! 5/5

This film is as funny as hell in places, a bit patchy elsewhere, but I enjoyed it a lot and intend to watch it again. The opening sequence in Paris had me laughing like an imbecile, and the whole blow job thing at the end had me creased up too. Oh, and the goddamn psychic! Highly recommended film, in terms of sheer comedy probably worth 4, but I'm giving it a bonus half mark for the sheer novelty value. 4.5 / 5

I liked Orgazmo. I liked Basketball. Indifferent to the South Park Movie. But Team America: World Police tops them all. This is by far Parker and Stone's greatest film. Their ability to offend and ridicule everyone, without taking any sides except their own, is amazing. They successfully capture the spirit of hollywood liberals, as well as a mid-west Bush supporter's view of the world, and have them clash throughout the entire movie. 5/5 I don't buy DVDs very often, and when I do it's usually for films I can't find in a blockbuster, but I'll be picking up Team America the first day it's out.

Voted 3/5. While I can certainly appreciate the original techniques Parker/Stone employ here as well as the above average film score and voice acting, I simply didn't find anything to laugh at in this movie. For me, the jokes fell completely flat since I could really see every punchline from miles away.

Not nearly as funny as everyone says, due to the fact that it's basically a big satirical view of everything under the goddamned sun. It just got too busy. However, it wasn't void of absolutely loving hilarious parts: The puking scene, obviously. Dicks, Pussies, and Assholes. gently caress YEAH! + most of the other musical numbers This is my serious face. The musical numbers made this movie. Everything else is take-it-or-leave-it. 3/5.

Pros: Sporadically brilliant. Most of the vulgar humor is head and shoulders above the hordes of There's Something About Mary knockoffs that coarsed through theaters like an enema in reverse. Comic timing is often sublime. The opening scene is worth seeing. Musical work is as good as Parker and Stone's work in South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, if somewhat less integral this time around. When it goes over the top, it usually hits a mark set very high indeed. That completely unexpected final plot twist involving Kim Jong Il. Cons: Lack of focus; it should have picked its targets more effectively and had more specific grievances to vent against the liberal side of the media. Some stupid jokes fall flat. Where is the real political satire? Long, awkward stretches barren of real comedy pervade parts of this movie, particularly near the middle. Parker & Stone should have gone out of their way to learn an important lesson: the Mike Meyers theory that a joke gets funnier and funnier the more times you do it almost never actually loving works. Finally, the puppets themselves get boring to watch. Verdict: Worth a rental if your threshold for disgusting humor and simulated violence is high. Just don't expect the second coming of South Park. I would have loved this movie if they'd cut it down to about 30 minutes. When it was funny, it was hysterically so, but the funny parts were separated by a lot of slow character development, and jokes (like the puppet sex scene) which held on way too long.

Like most non-South Park movies by the guys who made South Park, this movie was sorta, but not totally, funny. It had its brilliant moments, but it had some dead scenes too, and some jokes that didn't really hit. My personal favorite: "And if you're captured, you may want to take your own life. You'll need this." (hands him a hammer)

Exactly. Some parts had me about to poo poo my pants. But then I had plenty of time to calm down while the movie dragged on for a good 15 minutes without anything funny happening at all. I did appreciate the Mos Eisly bar the arabs were plotting in.

I wanted to like this movie so much. I've loved nearly everything else Trey and Matt have done, and I expected to laugh as hard at this film as I did at the South Park movie. But while I got some good laughs out of it, I was ultimately let down. My biggest complaint was posted earlier:quote:RexDart came out of the closet to say: Trey and Matt also weren't nearly as spot-on as they usually are with their satire. I was looking forward to them taking the piss out of Michael Moore, but they have nothing to say beyond "He's fat!". The actors should have been funny, but with a few exceptions there was no attempt to poke fun at them specifically, they just get killed in violent ways. The few attempts to really make fun of them (Sean Penn talking about how great Iraq was, the line about regurgitating what they read in the newspaper) were hilarious and very welcome, though. And Kim Jong Il was a waste. There are so many things about him you could make fun of, and instead he just talks funny. And he's lonely. Still, there was a healthy amount of good laughs. I think I laughed hardest at all the awkward puppet movements like fighting and dancing, and when it went completely over the top - the dicks/pussies/rear end in a top hat speech and the puking scene - it achieved the same giddy heights that the most surreal South Park episodes reach. But these laughs were spread too far apart to really make me recommend it. Buy the soundtrack now and wait for the DVD. 3/5
