Directed by: Mark Steven Johnson Starring: Ben Affleck, Jon Favreau, Colin Farrell, Michael Clarke Duncan, Jennifer Ga now available on DVD, this movie is not the "Daredevil" released in theatres. something like 30 minutes of footage have been re-inserted (Matt Murdock actually does lawyer things now, for example, and there are actual subplots) and additions not appearing in the original script but forced by the producers (sex scene, additional elektra crap intended to promote the Elektra spinoff film) have been cut out. the result is that, unlike the theatrical cut, this is not a nonsensical piece of poo poo. the sheer amount of content and storyline required to hold this thing together that were gutted for the theatrical cut is crazy like a beehive and you won't believe it. the cg is still crap and the bits of dumb dialogue that were dumb in the original are still dumb. i would still not call this a great movie, but is an O.K. movie at least, definitely above-average for a comic book movie, and people who like the funny book character "daredevil" are encouraged to see it. maybe other people can see it too? quote:danthemitchell came out of the closet to say: RATING: 3.5 PROS: is a movie with a plot CONS: is not the horrible movie Daredevil that was seen in theaters in 2003 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0287978/ jc dracula fucked around with this message at 05:13 on Dec 3, 2004 |

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1033239 Already reviewed. I don't know if "director's cuts" are distinguished from theatrical cuts here, but it seems like every movie gets a "director's cut" on DVD now. Most of these actually aren't director's cuts, but just include everything that was willingly cut for time and content to get a better market, and are now put back in to sell more DVDs. A director's cut is when the filmmaker loses control of the project and someone else (usually the studio exec overseeing production) puts together the final release.
