Directed by: Jacques Perrin, Jacques Cluzaud, Michel Debats Starring: Birds Winged Migration is a film about birds flying very long distances and then flying back. Ducks, geese, and pelicans fly thousands of miles in order to find food, warmth, and shelter. The movie tells you this and not much else. The narration is sparse. Much of the film is simply birds doing what birds do. The cinematography is amazing including up close and personal views of various types of birds. In many shots it looks like they strapped little cameras right up on the animals. Most of the movie is birds flying but they also hang out, eat, fight, and cuddle. The movie can be sad at times. In one scene ducks are picked off in the sky by hunters. In another scene a bird gets stuck in some sludge and can't get out. In another scene a bird breaks it's wing and is eaten by crabs. Such is the life of a bird! That's pretty much it. RATING: 4.5 PROS: Beautifully shot, funny birds CONS: Dying birds ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.sonyclassics.com/wingedmigration/home.html

this is a beautiful movie, but at times the narration is a bit pretentious. The people i saw the movie with wished that all of the species shown were identified by text. Only a small nit-pick though. 4.5 for the beauty and the technical achievement that the film represents.

After about 50 breathtaking shots of birds flying over gorgeous landscapes, you start to crave some variety. There are interesting moments, but they're too few and far between. Phenomenal cinematography, but ultimately kinda pointless. Rating: 3
