Directed by: John Waters
Starring: Melanie Griffith, Stephen Dorff, Alicia Witt, Adrian Grenier, Larry Gilliar

here's something you might not know about melanie griffith: she's an annoying oval office who can't act. she drifts through this whole thing like she's sedated, drags down the energy of her supposed-to-be-teenager co-stars and helps turn the notion of film terrorism into just a nuisance. waters' script was obviously strained through the corporate grinder to rip out everything that might have been interesting about it but that's what he got for sacrificing his style for bigger budgets and pretty princess non-actresses in leading roles.
all the anarchic furor that should be in a movie about making movies at gunpoint is gone. there are a few good jokes here but for the most part it's just an embarrassment. if you've seen waters' earlier work you know what he's capable of--how did he get from there to here?
