Directed by: Frank Capra Starring: Gary Cooper, Jean Arthur It's easy to get fed up with Capra. This is the same ground he would cover again, but better, in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Meet John Doe (and, to an extent, in You Can't Take It With You and It's a Wonderful Life). Lovable quirky small-town good-hearted guy does battle with evil corrupt high-falutin' city folks. Good old fashioned American values! Some real implausibilities too (why is New York City overrun with out-of-work farmers??). And maybe the Austrian psychiatrist thing wasn't clichéd back then, but it sure is a groaner nowadays. RATING: 2.5 PROS: warms the cockles of your heart CONS: Capracorn gets tedious ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0027996/ Please note that this is NOT the Adam Sandler movie.
