Some dude at the dyno shootout tonight ran a 50cc Ruckus. It was awesome, like a cat on the front of a motorcycle. It made 3.4HP, but it couldnt reach redline, because the dyno drum was too heavy. The owner thought it would be more like 5hp if it could reach redline.

I saw a guy on a new Aprilia while just walking around sightseeing in Singapore. Couldn't tell what model though since it was dark and I'm not really into Aprilias. A while later, and a few blocks away, I saw it parked on the street. It was an RSV4!

Do they have speed limits in Singapore? Isn't that just asking for a flogging?

Traffic laws are pretty liberal in Singapore as far as splitting and around town driving goes, the speed limits are never followed on freeways but are enforced ruthlessly from what I was being told by drivers there. Also, due to the crazy taxes and fees, that guy has gently caress-you-money to have a RSV4 in Singapore.

That's an MP3 500. All part of the same group of companies, aye? I dunno if they sell that particular one as a Piaggio where you are, though.

I didn't realize that Gilera was part of Piaggio. Makes sense though. I though it was an MP3 with a new butch nose until I saw the badge. I guess it's just a rebrand. It's called a Fuoco which sounds kinda dirty if you ask me.

IIRC that was originally designed for Gilera (which is perhaps why it looks so different from the 250/400), and then when they decided to bring it stateside they called it a Piaggio, since Gilera's not an established name here. Pretty sure the US doesn't get that sweet paintjob on the Piaggio, though Gay Nudist Dad fucked around with this message at Aug 07, 2009 around 22:54 |

It sure doesn't. But that's interesting, I actually had wondered about why it looked so different; I figured it was just that they wanted to give the "big" MP3 a more aggressive look to encourage people to buy it, or something like.

Pretty sure I saw someone post this bike:![]() And, well, I have more info on it now after seeing it in one of my dad's Motor Cyclist mags. It's made by a guy named Jim Davis with MotoMorphic. The guy says he wanted to make a streetfighter on steroids and took an Aprilia Mille R as the donor bike, made an aluminum frame and slapped a 300 on the back and a 250 on front with some YZF600R rear sets along with other components. They tried to debut it at the 2008 Isle of Man TT, but it handled like poo poo in its current configuration and almost got the guy run over. They adjusted it and say they're working on prototype two.

I read about it in motorcyclist. Gotta give the guy credit for actually riding that thing, when I saw it a figured it wouldn't move under it's own power ever.

Nah, I think what he meant was he wanted to show off his "kickin' whip yo" and on the way there he had a tank slapper or something while passing a truck because he had too little trail. The bike never even made it to the island, but I guess it's riding fine now.
