Very rarely do I think it's appropriate to claim criminal negligence against emergency first responders, but in this case there is just such an abundance of stupid which did result in severe injuries. If you know you can't put the fire out (which anyone holding an extinguisher at a track should be expected to know), your concern should be solely keeping it away from the driver until those who can put it out arrive.

Here's another angle that shows less of the actual rescue, and more of the idiocy. It looks like the car they dragged him to didn't have the parking brake on, and almost rolled over him.

I bet there are some engineers at ~~Lamborghini~~VAG looking into why the restraints failed, why the door flew open, and if they should find a better place to mount the extinguisher bottle(s).

Holy cow. What a video. Had some moments that reminded me of the M3 GTR vid with that Hans guy who runs through the whole field and the various Lotus racing vids, as well.

I want to marry straight gears.

I spent half the vid looking at the dash to try to get an idea of how fast he was going. Also found some of the really silent parts where you just hear the interior shaking around when he was off the power to be somewhat eerie.

I wouldn't exactly call some random dude's garage a lab setting, but interesting non the less. Subaru always seems to nail it with their AWD system where other larger manufactures fail.

That video came out a few years ago and I still feel the same way about it. It seems like they make conclusions that aren't supported by the data they provided. This leaves us to take their word for it which, is they are a Subaru dealer, means nothing. First they could setup this test in a way that does not mimic the real world traction superiority of the Subarus vs the others. (Even if it is unintentional) In the first test with the CR-V they come to the conclusion that it cannot transfer enough power to go up the ramp. They don't say however if they are they flooring it up the ramp or if they're just not giving it enough gas such that if the system only transmits a maximum of [X%] to the rear and the loss in the drivetrain takes up most of that.

Except in real life, the Honda's AWD is a truly a turd, the Toyota one is only fair at best, the VW isnt flash either. The Subaru one is well known to be more than just average.

So I'm quite sure you can replicate the results.
