I don't know why I found this funny but on the small overlap crash test 2013 VW beatle, your head completely misses the airbag and you get an AC vent permanently lodged in your face: https://youtu.be/WhgcDeARanQ?t=7s

Toyota TS010 testing at Eastern Creek 1992 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrRcH-M5oP4 We had been doing a marathon test, which lasted for nine days straight, he said. Eastern Creek is a great racetrack, but there is a monster bump in the middle of turn one, which is taken flat-out in sixth gear at about 190mp/h. Fantastic corner, but each time you go over the bump you get bashed about quite badly in the cockpit. Well, after nine days of endurance testing I went over the bump one more time and, CRACK, two ribs decided theyd had enough of that! Within an hour Hitoshi Ogawa had also broken his ribs for the same reason.

I'm curious what kind of lap times that did around there since it's the venue for world time attack now. Tilton EVO won with a 1:24.8 last year, only things faster on lap records page are formula cars. Tilton have made the wings bigger this year and added nos: Last year the spring rates/ride height weren't enough and the front diffuser got ripped apart over the course of the event. When your front splitter bangs into the ground it can't make any more downforce. That's bad going into turn one at that track. Oh, and since it's the youtube thread, the two fastest time attack laps there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghtDge22NKs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7PW9V2DJyM jamal fucked around with this message at 06:45 on Aug 18, 2015 |

So it's the 80s, and you're Datsun-Nissan. You want to make you a talking dashboard car machine, but you want to save a few bucks on ROM chips. How do you do it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hJBko3-oV4 You embed a tiny record player that plays a teeny tiny plastic record inside the dashboard. Murilee Martin has posted about this before, but it looks like he finally got it working. http://jalopnik.com/5246380/1982-datsun-voice-warning-box-used-tiny-phonograph-record-just-like-moon-base-robots Apparently by '85, they were using ROM chips. http://autoweek.com/article/wait-theres-more/when-cars-talked-using-tiny-phonograph-records-nissans-voice-warning-system I guess it's time for me to start tugging dashboards of 80s Datsuns in the junkyard to see if I can find my own. Could hook it up to the internet and tell my cat the fuel level is low from work.

Good episode. I guess I can forgive them for the gap while they built up a backlog to monetize. It actually looks like the Motor Trend On Demand stuff has some good things, I wish they had done better messaging around it instead of just "surprise, this week's Roadkill didn't appear like you expected and it might cost money."
