Nice pedalboard. I was wondering about your Sansamp, though. My brother got one of those not too long ago and has yet to really use it. Do you tend to use yours more for the overdrive capabilities, or mostly just for the DI?

Neither, especially. It's a tone shaping tool. It makes you sound like you're playing through a big tube amp, which entails a little breakup, but I don't think this is good to use as an overdrive stomp box. It changes your sound too radically -- I want a stompbox effect to add overdrive to my sound, not change it completely. The SABDDI is something you pretty much want to leave on, if you're going to use it.

It definitely seems to be best for rock music. It gives you a very heavy, edgy sound. I'd be reluctant too if I were your brother, because a mid bump is important to bring out the nuances of a fretless and to hear your intonation better, and the SABDDI takes out a lot of those frequencies in favor of others.

Stringing a bigsby isn't so bad once you have the routine down. The trick is to pre-bend the ball and keep your string tension. A winder helps tremendously.

Locking tuners help tremendously too. If you don't want to go to the trouble of installing them, though, a good trick is to just stretch the string across the fretboard and clamp a capo across the strings, leaving two hands free to do the winding.

As for me, I finally assembled all the components of my dream pedalboard. IS NICE, I LIKE

I can't compare because I bought my BD-2 with the mod already done, but whatever it sounded like before it certainly does sound awesome now. If it's nearly as good unmodded I might agree that it's the best Boss pedal in production, though my reflex choice is the DD-7.

As a matter of fact, some dude (who also posted in this thread) showed off his completed pedalboard full of Boss pedals in the pedalboard thread and I thought he was going to get flamed to hell over it, but people seemed genuinely impressed, and it gave me hope that TGP is growing up (or the old snooty people are dying).

Yeah that was me but to be fair a lot of people on the effects forum have always liked Boss pedals.

On its way to me now. I'm looking forward to putting together some kinda shoegaze/dreampop stereo pedalboard with this, the DD-7, a Big Muff, and maybe the Boss DC-2 or a clone thereof. And a good hall reverb wouldn't hurt...

I think my next move pedalwise will be to sell most of my pedals and get the M9, and put it on a board with an expression pedal or two plus a Sansamp for bass and a Menatone for guitar so I have a great and compact rig for either instrument that can cover a ton of ground and go direct if necessary.

Still keeping my little Boss board, though.

'90s Ampeg Jet II Reissue (J-12R). Picked it up on Craigslist for $200. Sounds amazing... when it works. :emo: The guy I bought it off of said it had "intermittent popping", and when I went to his house and played it for about half an hour, it indeed had some very mild popping or scratching. It almost sounded like a loose input jack or something. So I bought it and it sat unused for two days, before I turned it on and tried to play today. Within 30 seconds to a minute, it begins crackling and scratching incessantly. Whether you're playing or not, whether anything's plugged in or not. :iiam:
A quick google search shows that this is a known issue with these amps, but every single person seems to have solved it differently. So I've got some new tubes on the way, and hopefully that will take care of it.

It's probably the jack. Does the crackling go away or change if you jam the plug in and out a few times? If so go get the jack replaced at a repair shop.

Oh, as for me,

Recording King OOO model. I was prepared to spend hundreds more for a nice acoustic today and I kept going back and forth hardly believing my ears but I liked this one best. Guys if you are looking into new acoustics for under a grand you have GOT to try these.

Oh and also... I bought ANOTHER silverface Fender Princeton. Just because I have this Boss DC-2 stereo chorus pedal and it sounds so goddamn gorgeous into two amps spread across the room a little bit. It was fate, I knew I was looking for another small amp and as I walked into the store it was right there in front of me, they had just gotten it in and hadn't yet put a price tag on it. Drip edge. Sweet tone.

I played a Recording King RAJ-27 at Norman's Rare Guitars once and I thought it played better than any Gibson J-45 I've laid hands on. I was blown away by how light it was, probably because of the fact it's finished in nitro and the braces are scalloped by hand to vintage spec. I compared it to vintage J-45s and it stood up. Compared to a brand new J-45 it wasn't quite as full in the lower registers but with age and being played I'm sure it'd just get sweeter.

Hey, I want one again.

I played a couple of those today too. Good sound but they went too far with the finish IMO, way too much black. I love the look of a J-45, if RK followed it more closely I'd have been very tempted to get one.
