I heard this song at a bar. I'm pretty sure it is an obscure italo disco or minimal wave song (very much along the lines of this). The singer is a woman who sings in a high register similarly to this linked song. The production is pretty lo-fi. I couldn't make out the lyrics, and couldn't hear in which language the song was sung. However, I remembered the chorus/hook vocal melody and the bassline, and reproduced those below. There was also a key change at some point. Sorry I can't be more concrete. My gut tells me it's from the original Italo/minimal wave era in the 80s, but I'm not sure.

I don't even know if this is the right thread to ask this, and it's probably a huuuge stretch, but does anyone have ANY information about a Canadian band called Beach Ball? Or Beachball? Probably '90s alt rock stuff.

Thanks.

So this (here) is the latest single from Jenny Lewis, which is in constant rotation on KUTX, but there's a riff that I know that sounds almost exactly like that opening, reverb-drenched, definitely 60s-70s, or inspired by the same. I first thought "The Kinks?" but I can't place what song it might have been.

If you reverse that riff, it would be pretty close to Supertramp "Give a Little Bit".

Can't find the original on youtube (weird) but here is a link to Hodgson doing it live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed5WWRgX-TY

I had long replies for each of these, then in the middle of writing it all down, I figured it out: Queen's "She Makes Me." Thanks for helping out, though.

I heard this tune yesterday, and I've been trying to figure out where I've heard it before ever since. Shazam and TrackID returned nothing, while SoundHound gave me "Polly Pocket - Titel 2", apparently from the album "Ein Fantastisches Abenteuer - Das Hörspiel", which I'm pretty sure doesn't add up. And from what I heard of that track at amazon.de, it isn't a song, but an excerpt from an audiobook.

Anyone have any clue as to what this genericly French-sounding song this can be?

The only thing I can ever remember is a lyric about a roof... or ceiling... I think. It's not any of the more well known songs, and I'm fairly certain it's a one hit wonder. I know it's not a lot to go on.
As a resolution to this, I have decided this is the song I was thinking of. Whether or not it actually was, I'm willing to believe it is and rewrite my old memories:

Part of the problem is that the chorus of this kept coming up when I was trying to recall the melody:

I realize these songs sound nothing alike. :negative:

Could it actually be "Mouth" by Merrill Bainbridge? That's the one thing that sounds closest to "I Love You Always Forever" to me.

It's a pretty chill indie or something song and the music video is like a cardboard animation of dudes on a sub or boat or something and they're attacked by a mechanical squid or sea monster and the top of it opens up and they escape in a helicopter. And that's all I remember!

I realized that the finder app I was using actually made a (really bad quality) recording of the song: http://tindeck.com/listen/kkvo (audio autoplays)

Any ideas? I had to splice two recordings together, hence the gap that cuts to a later part of the song.

Not it but the video is kind of similar. It was less realistic and there was definitely some sort of mechanical kraken or something taking the boat down in the end. The song itself was more folk than electronic.

I'm trying to remember the name of a whole album I listened to before but I can't remember who does it. It was a French band that was doing kind of a krautrock-y post-punk thing. I think it came out around 1979, had a picture of a bicycle on the front cover and had at least one song that was close to or over 20 minute long. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Looking for a song title/artist. It's on "Dirty Sanchez: The Movie" when everyone is in a car going to the Yakuzas to chop off part of Math's finger. They have the bad Japanese dub while they're talking, but the song playing in the background is what I am looking for. Anyone have any idea?

I'm looking for a German krafterwerk-esque electro act from the 70s. One of their videos has been posted from time to time in relevant music threads, as an example of very early krautrock, predating Kraftwerk even. It was a really good song!

Do you mean like an actual music video? There's a few bands it could be(Neu! are the most obvious one since it sounds like something with a motorik beat) but I can't think of any krautrock bands that had music videos.

I think the video was just them performing - not a music video in the more modern sense - though I seem to recall some cheesy chromakey effects. I don't think it was Neu! as they were an offshoot of Kraftwerk, and this was an example of pre-kraftwerk bleepy bloopy music.

Feel free to list any possibilities, as I like the music anyway.

Okay, this is going to be a little vague, so I'll be impressed if one of you figures this out.

I think this was a Top 40 song in 2012/2013, male singer. The starting of the chorus melody is similar "Chasing Pavements" by Adele, to the point where it's interfering with my memory of the lyrics.

I think the main line for the chorus ends with something like "if I can't have you baby" or "can't live without you baby".

Any ideas?
