Right, I might be going slightly mad on this. Mike Cotton Sound - "So What". They're a fairly obscure British Invasion era trad jazz / R&B group, and the reissue of their only album lists Miles Davis as the writer for this tune, but I know "So What" by Miles Davis and it doesn't sound like "So What" by Miles Davis as I'd recognise it. I definitely recognise the tune but as much as I wrack my brains, I can't place a name to the melody. Does anyone have any ideas?

Because this article says it's a Bill Black song (which is apparently a different song with the same name). The Bill Black song sounds more like the Mike Cotton Sound version.

That would explain it - maybe it was just a mistake in the "Composer" field on the CD.

I'm thinking of a classical piece that would be very drat close to the end of The William Tell Overture, but with all the ascending notes reversed to descending. Tempo is about the same and it is in a major key. I thought it was used in the 1979 movie "Scavenger Hunt" but the music credits didn't list anything that looked like a match.

I don't recall much about the song itself, except that it opened with piano. It's some form of indie rock. The music video was cut out animation, black and white, and it was a Western theme. I believe it featured animals dressed up as people, and that there was some kind of duel/stand off. The song is probably from 3-4 years ago.

No idea what the song is but it sounds like Van Halen... anyway, what's the point of a then and now video if nobody has aged at all? I don't mean aged well, I mean it looks like the before and after shots were taken on the same day.

I can't remember the song, but the music video involving an insomnia-ridden man trying to make it to a woman on the other side of a city. Whenever he dozes off, there is a slow motion sequence during it. In particular, he falls asleep on a subway and there is a floating potted plant? Someone, please, I am dying here.

Looking for a song which I think was called 'Colette' by a French sounding lo-fi garage rock duo whose name I can't remember. Any idea what their name might be/what album it was from? If I remember right there are lyrics like 'For Colette, it's not easy to regret, it's uncertain because the future hasn't happened yet, it's time something something something'. A girl sings the song and a guy provides the backing vocals on the chorus. If it's any help, I think the first track on the album was either called 'Mirror' or 'Mirror Mirror' Jhoge fucked around with this message at 05:51 on Jun 29, 2015 |

I'm trying to find a song I heard the other day, unfortunately I don't have a lot of details. I only caught the last minute or so. It reminded me of the XX in terms of simplicity, but had more of a psychedelic vibe to it. There was a bass not that was being hit, and a guitar would strum a chord. The bass note stayed the same the whole time while the guitar strummed the same three or so chords. There were some really understated vocals. The drums weren't much beyond a kick drum and maybe some snare. I think it faded out. If anybody can figure it out based on those sparse details you'll be my hero.

There was a Conan bit (or possibly some other late-night show) that I saw that kept using a piece of a song. It had kind of a smooth boy band sound, maybe autotuned a capella or synth-backed. It was possibly just the intro to the song, as they only used a few seconds. I think the lyrics were something like "Oh, say what you wanna do". VVVV That's it, thanks! Here's one that's been driving me nuts. There's a little piece of bumper music they play on Cash Cab sometimes, and I feel like it's something I should recognize as a (probably minor) hit from some years ago, maybe but not necessarily as far back as the seventies. But I just can't place it. I apologize for the low volume in the clip I'm linking, but I couldn't find a better one. Anyway, it's at the very beginning of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBOF22qYjdk

This has been in my head lately-- There was a music video of some electronic mashup music (almost like chiptunes) that someone linked on YouTube here many years ago. I believe someone here created it. I want to say the video was cartoony and had some references to Tom Selleck and/or his moustache in it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

A chorus of women sometimes repeated it. Google lyric searches haven't turned it up and Pandora hasn't thrown it at me for a while. IDK but it's cool. One of the most prominent things they mention is Thom Yorke's sound track, it's 3rd to the accolades and narrator. His albums have a lot of that synth hi-hat thing going on and the way it uses minor notes to make something happyish sound "off" is classic TY. I feel like having someone like him score your indie film is a BFD and I can't imagine they'd lead the trailer with anything else.

Hmm I figured it would be on soundtrack, too bad because I really dig it. I guess you're right, it could be from anything that Brass Moustache has done cause that vid is more about them and isn't a trailer for the film itself. Why not email Brass Mousatche? As great and accomplished as they are, they are def a small team and the office is in a converted apartment according to street view, so whoever receives your inquiry wouldn't have any trouble finding out. It's late evening there now but I bet you'd have an email by the end of tomorrow if you ask on their site. Really cool song and I've replayed that video a few times since you posted it, so let me know what you find please. I'm one of those weirdos that likes TYs solo stuff more than Radiohead so I hope it's him and we can get our hands on some new stuff.

So when I lived in Miami, there was a very sad ice cream truck that played a depressing music-box rendition of something, and I could not identify it for the life of me. The song is being la-la-la'd here. Everyone I have shown this to is like "I totally know this!" but no one can remember the name, but they are sure it is a Piano or Violin piece by either Chopin or Mozart.
