I've got a deep trance/breaks track stuck in my head that I'm afraid I'll never be able to identify. It was played during the burn at Alchemy this weekend (I doubt that will help, but maybe there is an off chance someone was there). It's got a breakbeat, but not too breaky...not quite as much as say Hybrid or Way Out West, but definitely more so than your standard 4-to-the-floor trance track. The synth sounds a little like the beginning of the track First State by First State. Also there is a part of the Computer Hell Cobine Mix of UB Devoid by Way Out West that really reminds me of it. You can hear the part here: http://www.last.fm/music/Way+Out+West/_/UB+Devoid+%28Computer+Hell+Cobine+Mix%29 The synth is almost a dead on match.

I'm pretty sure no one will be able to ID this for me, but it's been driving me crazy since Saturday, and I thought I might as well ask.

Ugh, this is a long shot. I heard this at a Tim Horton's and haven't been able to identify it.

It's an almost country-ish song with a refrain of something sounding like "so high" followed by something like "got me 'round and about". It's an upbeat song with a male singer, and the note on "high" is, well, ridiculously high, and sung in full voice. Possibly around C...

I've been wondering what song this was so I could listen to this guy's voice.

Could it be Tal Bachman - She's So High Above Me?

Googling for it also brings up results for Everclear and Fastball, but you can hear the one I'm talking about here : http://www.rhapsody.com/talbachman/talbachman/shessohigh/lyrics.html

I was listening to a college station that doesn't have spinitron or anything online and I heard this jazz song, but with a sort of rythmic narrative over it. The guy was just barely using a sing-song voice and I think he was describing his life and how jazz influenced it. At one point he was talking about how his mother would tell him to turn down his records, and he yelled back at her "this is XYZ, don't you understand?". But XYZ was the name of some jazz guy who's name I knew from general pop culture knowledge but I quickly forgot.

It was a really neat song and I'd be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Going on the assumption that you remembered it wrong, and I can take some liberties with your description...could it be Medeski Martin and Wood - Whatever Happened to Gus?

Ok, so this isn't actually a song, but a whole album. And it's not really even music, I guess, but this seemed like the best place to ask.

I had an old record when I was a kid with halloween sound effects on it. Not really all that spectacular, but on side 2, it had a story of a guy who's car breaks down or something, and he has to stay in an old haunted house. It was more of a radio dramatization, and not someone just telling a story. I remember there being a woman's voice saying "where's my baby?" but I really don't remember much else. It was really creepy...at least to my 5-year-old self. I think the front, or maybe the back, of the record sleeve had a picture of 3 witches around a cauldron.

I doubt I'll ever find this, but it's stuck in my head for over 20 years now, and I would love to find it again.

I've had a song stuck in my head for a few days now, and I have no idea what it is, or even if the lyrics I am singing in my head are remotely correct. What I remember is this

"Did you give it up? (Stop!) ahh ahh ahh ahh" (maybe only 3 "ahh"s, maybe more...I really can't remember)

The "did you give it up" part is sung by a guy, and the "stop" and ahhs are female voices. The entire part is like a pre-chorus, and the actual chorus I want to say sounds somewhat similar to that Hungry Eyes song, but I could be totally wrong about that. I know it was a radio hit when it was a current song, but like adult contemporary radio (think Michael Bolton and his ilk). I imagine it being played in a dentist's waiting room for some reason.

Back when Nicktoons first started (sunday mornings when it was only Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy) there was a commercial that featured a Nicktoons rap. The only words I remember go as follows:

"...Doug, Rugrats and the Ren and Stimpy show. Yo, here we go, because we got a lot in store..." and then it went to a fast part that all rhymed, and had the line "a chilly dog" and showed either Ren or Spike (from Rugras) shivering from being cold. This sounds like it could be 2 Skinnee J's (they have a dude named Sumpy who just dances around and drinks beer and wears a gold hat and huge sunglasses), but if you are suggesting that they suck anywhere NEAR as much as Limp Bizkit, you are horribly mistaken.

However, there are approximately 8.4 million rap/rock bands from around that time, so it could be anyone. Do you have anything more to go on?

It will be practically impossible but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.

About 4-5 years ago I was browsing the web for Trance music. I came across some website that had this really great song playing in the background. I checked the source code, found the song file and downloaded it.

It's about 60 minutes long.

It's very dreamy trance, very soothing. More trance and less techno. There weren't rapid club drum beats all over the place. It was very serene.

There were some lyrics that were sung towards like minutes 45-50 or so. It's hard for me to recall what was being said but for some reason a voice saying something about "space" (echos/repeats) or something to that effect. Like someone singing about outer space or going to outer space (I know I suck at this description).

Details that might help. For a while I was convinced that the file was called meganite (which is Mauro Picotto I believe). He has a bunch of 1 hour+ recordings but I haven't been able to find them. His music style is a lot more club techno than the song I was listening to so I'm suspecting maybe I was wrong. It could have been a State of Trance (Armin Van Buuren) song but those tend to be more club songs again. It could still be either of the above, maybe I just look in the right place for either artist.

If anybody can help I will be eternally thankful. I burned the song to a dvd but I lost it, the PC that had the song is long gone.

A long shot, but could it be Sunlounger - Another Day on the Terrace? There are two different versions of the mix...one is more downtempo, and the other is more clubby/housey, but I'm pretty sure both versions use different mixes of the same songs. That link leads to the more downtempo one. Unfortunatly, it's only like 8 minutes of the mix, but hopefully it'll be enough to determine if it's what you are looking for or not.
